THE AWAKENING
To all my fiction and vampire fans...Like me!
CHAPTER ONE:
What am I doing here? He probably doesn’t like me, and if he did why hadn’t he asked me to go to the dance with him? Uuuuggghhh!!!Boys are so weird. NO, that is an understatement. Boys are unpredictable. Like that one guy that came up to me at lunch and kissed me on the lips, out of nowhere!! At least I was saved by Owen, my best childhood friend. You would not believe what he did! He picked the guy that kissed me on the lips by his shirt and punched him right on the cheek. I never knew Owen was violent, I guess he has qualities that I didn’t know about. No matter where I’m at Owen has always been there to stand up for me and when I’m in big trouble…well let’s just say that he takes out the trash. Oh! But not like bullying or anything, he just deals with it like a gentleman.
Anyway…back to reality. I looked to my left, then my right and saw that the halls were empty. Quickly, I headed to the guys locker room, but I knew that the only guy that would be there would be Owen because he’s the only guy that stays after school to run at least two laps on the field, talk about wanting a perfect body. Don’t get me wrong he is handsome, but it wouldn’t kill him to lay off the running once in a while. As I turned around to close the door to the locker room, I heard footsteps behind me. I knew who it was, I could tell because every time I was near him I always got butterflies in my stomach. I turned around so quickly that I almost hit my head on his chin. Luckily, he stopped me just in time for the contact. Wow! That was fast! I didn’t know he had super fast reflexes, yet another thing I don’t know about him. I guess I’m a little shorter than him, about three inches. I really need to get more of my vitamins! Anyways, I looked up to his grayish-blue eyes, oh, how I love those eyes, and realized that he was staring at me. It was weird really, he has never looked at me so passionately before, but in those eyes I also saw worry, as if he knew what I was about to announce. I opened my mouth to say that I didn’t intend to alarm him, but I was left quiet when his lips touched mine.
Right at that moment, I felt a little buzz go through my body, another signal that I loved him. I didn’t think it was wrong because we have known each other since kindergarten and I love him. Then a realization went through me, I was kissing Owen. And I loved him.
CHAPTER TWO:
When the kiss finally ended, I was so dazed that I hadn’t realized that Owen had let go of me and that I was falling. Fast. I closed my eyes, waiting to hit the hard floor, but was soon caught by Owen, my hero, as always. But I was so shocked by his speed that I was left speechless, again. I didn’t even hear him speak; does being in the state of shock do that to people? How weird, but what would I know, I have never been in the state of shock. Slowly, I started to gain control of myself and started to hear Owen. But all I heard was gibberish. Then I got hold of one thing he had said. VAMPIRE.I opened my mouth and slowly and carefully, I said “You’re a…vamp-vampire?”This didn’t make sense vampires weren’t real, right?
I saw him open his mouth too, and just like me, he talked slowly, and carefully. “Tari don’t freak out. Yes, I am a vampire and you mustn’t tell anyone, got it?” I didn’t respond right away, but I didn’t have to since I was cut off by a flash and a blur of Owens movements.
All of a sudden, I felt two sharp points sinking itself into my neck and everything started to get blurry, and before I went unconscious, I finally said what I had felt for years, ”I love you Owen.”
CHAPTER THREE:
I awoke with a rustling sound. I quickly sat up, soon to be consumed with a major headache. What had Owen done to me? Owen? Who’s Owen? Why does that name ring a bell? And why do I feel a buzzing feeling over my body when I think of his name? Aaaagghhh! Who is this Owen, and why do I have a huge headache and a throbbing neck. My neck? What about my neck? I carefully reached to touch my neck, but when I did touch it a sting came immediately. What was wrong with me?!Am I going crazy? I certainly hope not. I glanced around the room and realized that I have never seen this place before. Where was I?”Calm down Tari, having all these questions in your head is not going to get rid of this headache”, I thought to myself. Out of nowhere, a gust of wind was thrown at me. Wind? But if there’s no windows how can you have wind? I looked around again to see if I missed something, anything that can help me escape this unknown place. Right next to the little light stand was a little note .Not what I expected, but it could be of good use. Cautious of my surroundings, I stood up and wobbled over to the little table .When I finally got to the table I gasped. Written on the front of the note was my name and it was written with very fancy handwriting, I think I recognized it, but from whom? I grabbed the note and was about to open it when the door behind me opened. Right when I was about to turn, a hand covered my mouth, and I have to admit, I was tired of all this mystery. So by tiredness, I relaxed, closed my eyes and let what was about to happen, happen. But nothing happened. Slowly, the hand left my mouth, maybe because it saw no resistance, and after that it turned me around and I saw a guy about my age, but he had grayish-blue eyes and was staring at me passionately and worried at the same time. Huh? Why is this so familiar?
“Hello, Tari. How are you doing? Are you feeling well?”The strange guy asked. I had no idea what I was about to do right next, but my body took over and leaned forward and I ended up kissing him right on the mouth, and I must say I actually enjoyed it.
“I’m doing well, now that you’re here”, I said, and I leaned in for another kiss, but stopped when I finally realized what I was doing. Faster than light, I backed away from the stranger and sat down in a corner of the small, dark room. Did I just kiss a stranger, who was probably responsible for putting me in this room, and liked it?
Aware of my actions, the stranger walked slowly to me, and extended a hand. “I’m Owen, by the way, and you probably don’t remember me, but don’t worry. Short time memory loss is one of the side-effects of being a freshly, new vampire. Oh, and if you didn’t notice how fast you backed away from me, I would say that you are all ready to come hunting with me. You’re hungry, right?”
When he said that I was hungry, I immediately put my hand to my throat. Vampire. “What! You made me into a vampire! Why! I never agreed to this. And why me, you could have had any girl in the world, but you chose me, why?” I asked this so called Owen.
Concern and sadness filled his beautiful eyes, and if I weren’t so mad at him, I would probably do anything to make him feel better. This time, without warning, it was he that kissed me smack on the lips. And like the running water of a waterfall, all of my memories started to flow back to me. Our childhood, our first vacation together, and that mesmerizing kiss we had.
“Owen?” I asked as tears started to run down my cheeks. I put my hands around him and embraced him in a big hug. Owen started to run his hands through my hair, and, God, did it feel good. He was whispering that everything was going to be okay in my ear, but I was too concerned in having him right here, right next to me. “I love you Owen”, I told him. I could practically feel his smile when he chuckled. And I couldn’t help but smile myself.
“I love you too Tara. Actually I loved you since I first met you.” Owen told me. And by the sound of his voice, he kind of sounded relieved to finally admit his feelings.
“Um, I have a few questions. How did you first become a vampire, were you born like that? And why did you turn me into a vampire?” I asked.
“Tera, I love you and I couldn’t wait until you knew about me to turn you, sooooo I went ahead and turned you right now. I’m so sorry, and I will understand if you grow to hate me.” He said those words filled with so much sorrow that I couldn’t help to put my face up to his and give him a kiss filled with so much love that I surprised myself. Never have I ever kissed someone like that, ever. When the kiss ended, I realized that I couldn’t stand not having my lips intertwined with his, so I led him to the small bed that was in the room. And by me leading him to the bed, I could tell that he shone with happiness. I have never had sex before, but it seemed that doing it with the person you love is the right way to go.
We lay on the bed with our lips together as we took our clothes off. Our bodies started to move together in rhythm and a trickle of sweat went down my spine. After the glorious experience, we just lay there wrapped in each other’s arms. I have never been so happy in my life. I was so filled with joy that I just laughed out loud and by the questioning look on Owens face it made me laugh harder. Who knew that after having sex you would feel like this? This may sound weird, but I might have sex later on with Owen.
“Owen, I’m laughing because I have just had an amazing experience with you, so don’t think I’m crazy”.
This time it was Owen that burst out in laughter and it was my turn to give him a questioning look. “Look, Tara, I am not laughing of your statement I’m laughing because
