I walked into the bar. There were many people who were in the bar. There were woman to wanted to test the waters, me who wanted to get away from their wives, underage children lying to get into bar. Each story was written on their face with each expression they showed. There are three kinds of people in the bar; the frauds who lie, the idiots who get lied to and me who sit on the stool waiting for the clock to tick.
“Want another drink?” asked the bartender. He was probably the only sober person in a kilometer radius from where I was sitting. His hands were shaking and there were a few orders he had messed up on. I had seen him on a few shifts since I began coming here. He was probably a newbie.
“Ye sure.” I replied. I did not want the beer. I just wanted more time to talk to the boy.
“What’s your job anyways? You always come in this bar, drink a few beers and stare at everyone in the place.” said the bartender. Good to know that someone has been keeping tabs on me.
“Oh, I am just here looking for a friend by the name of Montgomery.” I replied. I noticed the second I pronounced his name, his eyebrows raised and pulled together. His upper eyelids was raised and the lower eyelid got tensed, the microexpression for fear.
“I have never heard of his name before.” The bartender replied. He was lying and I could sense it. He was a horrible liar. I jumped over the counter, grabbed his shirt and threw him at the case full of beers. They began tumbling down from the shelves. I grabbed on bottle and smashed it on the bartender’s head.
“I won’t ask again boy. Where is Montgomery?” I growled at the bartender. I could tell he was frightened.
“The door to the left” I managed to mutter out of him mouth.
“Was that so hard?” With that I dropped the boy and continued to look for Montgomery. I followed the directions until I saw a group of men sitting at a table playing cards. In the middle of the group was Montgomery. He had aged a lot in the last nine years. His eyes widened at he saw me. Glad to know that he recognized me.
I used my rhenium to form a blade that covered the outside of my fist. It started at the outside of the fist and went forwards but had a slight curve facing inwards. One of the many talents that I obtained many years ago was being able to control rhenium, a dense metal, with my mind. I am able to turn it into a liquid and solid while controlling it to form different objects and shapes as necessary. The blade coming out of the side of my hand is one of my favourite weapon choices, which is why I call it my hidden fang. The other players along with Montgomery had seen the weapon.
Before the first guy could get up I punched him in the face. The fang went through his head to the other side. The other players got up to fight. One of the men ran towards me, but before he could get near me I used the side of the fang to slice part of his face. Another guy came towards me and I punched him in the stomach. Before pulling out, I dragged my hand upwards until I felt his sternum break.
Finally everyone was down and that left Montgomery. I looked over at him to see him shivering. There was sweat dripping down his face. I walked up to him slowly, just enough to see him shake with fear.
“Where is he?” I growled at him. My anger was boiling inside, ready to explode.
“H, h … He’s at the lab creating his own.” replied Montgomery. Now I was confused. I knew that he was back in town but making his own. What did that mean?
“What do you mean, he’s making his own.” I growled at him.
“A worthy successor. He hired a bunch of people to create a clone. A son. One that will be ready to destroy you. He knew you were coming.” he replied.
I had been waiting a long time for this day to come but he was ruining the moment. I sliced both his arms before he could react. His eyes widened. I could tell this surprised him.
“Kill me, dammit. Kill me.” He cried.
“No. Not yet. There are some things worse than death Montgomery. Some would say living and waiting for the day for you death. I will come back. The next time I see you, you die. I am you Grim Reaper.” With that speech I left and began running through the forests. It was time to go back home.
I hit down the door. “Where are you?” I yelled walking in the house. It was not really a house. It was our old laboratory, where I was born and raise. There were so many memories here, good and bad. It filled the place. I had realized how much I missed the past. Everything was so much simpler then. It had a gloomy feeling to it. It was because Jumper was gone. Everything I am doing was to avenge him, avenge his death.
“Hello, brother.” I heard his voice. “Glad to see you made it.” I saw his huge grin. It covered his whole face, just like when we were kids.
“What the hell are you doing? I hear that you have control over the underground empire now. I assumed that it was another person attempting to imitate us. Then I hear about the massacres and robberies and they all have our style of fighting written all over it. We destroyed all of this years ago and you decide to bring it back.” I started yelling everything that I wanted to get across before he could interrupt me.
“Well, looks like I don’t have to update you on what I have been doing after we separated. We destroyed this empire years ago, but that was not because of the things they were doing, it was because of Jumper. We both know that we would not have even done any of it if it were not for Jumper. But things have changed now.” He replied.
I had not seen him in years and a lot has changed. To begin with his morals and beliefs have all been rewritten. He still had his two goat horns made out of ice that swerved on the top of his head.
“I assume you’re here to stop me then.” He said.
“Yes.” I took out the fangs. “You are psychotic now to recreate this empire.”
“Things have changed now, Smilidon.” He was calling me by my name. It was weird to hear my name after so long. I have lived without one for so long. No one knew no one and me needed to know me. It was not just that simple.
“Come here Blaze” He said. Who the hell is Blaze? A young boy walked towards me. I had not seen him beside Markhor this whole time.
“Meet my son or clone, Blaze” said Markhor.
“Wha…” before I could even ask a question Markhor used his horns and slammed me in the chest. He continued running like a bull with my chest against his horns. I was not prepared for such an attack at that speed. He had gotten a lot stronger than the last time. But so have I. I grabbed his horns and used momentum to slam his against the ground.
I felt wet hands grab my arms. Before I was able to move the hands froze and could not be moved. I looked back to see a moving construct of water and ice.
“What are you?” I asked. Markhor had been doing some serious changes and training. His control over his powers how grown immensely.
“My own water constructs. They only do what I want them to do. “ replied Markhor. He was happy but he definitely deserved to be happy. I had never even thought of creating my own construct. That was definitely a good idea. I could feel the water slowly climbing up the rest of my body and freezing, restraining any movement.
“Blaze, finish him off. I have work to attend to. The virus won’t make itself.” said Markhor and walked away.
“What virus? What is he talking about?” I asked Blaze as Markhor walked out. Blaze created a ball of fire in each hand and threw it at me. It melted the ice instantly and it evaporated, along with the water construct, into water vapor.
“Follow me.” With that Blaze led me out of the building. “He is creating some kind of virus to infect every living being to turn them into us. He wants to share his powers with the rest of the world. He hired a bunch of scientists to create the virus. They are not here. They are in another place. But I will only take you there if you take me along with you. If he knows you left, he will kill me before I even have a chance to stop him.”
“Fine. Come along. If you dare even think about lying to me, I will rip you apart bit by bit and take each piece of your body to hide it in so many places so that no one will every be able to put your body back together. No funny games. Got it?” I growled at the boy. He nodded and started walking towards the streetlights.
“Well you are coming aren’t you? It going to be a long journey to China.” said the boy.
