I hid underneath my kitchen table like a scared child. I was still skeptical about the world coming to an end but I didn't think that there was a possibilty that I would be clobbered to death. There had been no power on my block for the past four hours so the only thing that was working in my house was the radio powered by batteries. Somehow I was able to find a emergency news channel but even the radio has been toying with me by wanting to work when it wants to. The shadows of the mob at the windows clashed and collided on the floor, making it as a huge monster is about to break in and eat me alive. The banging on the door would not stop and that radio of mine decided to play a tune to haunt me... (@)
(Hold your grandmother's bible to your breast
Gonna put it to the test
You wanted it to be blessed
And in your heart
You know it to be true
You know what you gotta do
They all depend on you
And you already know
Yet you already know
How this will end
There is no escape
From the slave catcher's songs
For all of the loved ones gone
Forever's not so long
And in your soul
They poked a million holes
But you never let them show
Come on its time to go
And you already know
Yet you already know
How this will end
Now you've seen his face
And you know that there's a place in the sun
For all that you've done
For you and your children
No longer shall you need
You always wanted to believe
Just ask and you'll receive
Beyond your wildest dreams
And you already know
Yet you already know
How this will end
You already know (You already know)
You already know (You already know)
You already know
How this will end

Axes took the place of heavy hands banging and the blades were breaking through the door. I felt like I was in the middle of a zombie attack at this point. I scurried out from under the table and took that radio that was laughing at me. One smash to the floor ended it's taunting. Lucky for me, I'm always prepared for the better and the worst and I had already have my emergency bag in the kitchen because I was in the middle of finishing up the food supply. I snatched the bag and bolted out the back door before the mob broke completely in.
It was worse than I thought outside...I couldn't even count, let alone stand to see the dead bodies in the streets and the one who needed medical attention and on the verge of dying. Some reached out to me for help. And that made me ran further away. I cut corners and dodged some that had other angry mobs. I was running blindly and before I knew it, I was tripping and tumbling down hill and the trunk of a tree stopped me from rolling continuously.
Everything was dark. Or was that only in my head from the hard knock? When I finally gotten my vision back, I tried to focus on my surrounding. Seems like I crashed deep into a public park and there wasn't any lights. So at least I can tell that my eyes hadn't failed me. But the darkness felt like it swallowed me whole. I didn't know where my bag had gone so much luck for having a flash light.
And then there was a light from afar. More of a glow or a hue. It drew me in as if I was a critter flying towards my death from a bug zapper and I couldn't help but go to it. it's reassurance, the warmth. The light wasn't just a light that came from a device ot some sort. A man that appeared to be homless at first was the one glowing. Then his coat began to move. Seemed like he had two massive great danes that were trying to escape but when his coat dropped to the ground, out spreaded apart were huge, glorious white wings. It took my breath away as the hue coming from him turned up its watts to a thousand.
I didn't know the light had summoned something else but when the light had finally dimmed down, another across from the man showed. Three lights, each having a tall shadow figure in it, had their own spot light. The stood in place so still and errie. They looked to be ten feet tall. "Oh my lord...aliens." I had said to myself under my breath. "The aliens are here. It's all happening right before my eyes!" Scary and yet exciting. I couldn't turn away.
The man remained where he was standing, arms spread out, palm of his hands facing upward. His wings were fully stretched magnificantly and his hue started to glow brighter again. The three giant E.T.s starting to sprout wings of their own. Like it was a response to the man. "...Angels?" I had whispered. There was some rustling in the bushes. I didn't even know there were bushes around me and I couldn't tell if I was hiding well enough. Soft moans were heard. My keen sense of fear kicked in as I was convinced that I'm in the middle of a zombie attack.
The dead had also had a hue about them except it was dimmed and was about to fade out completely. But they weren't after me. I gotten the chance to see them because of their weak glow and realized that they were spirits of the dead. The three litted figure up ahead started to speak in a sing-song voice and I didn't know what they were talking about. It was then when I also realized that I was witnessing a summon. These weary spirits were being called by these angels... (@)
(Where are we? What the hell is going on?
The dust has only just begun to fall,
Crop circles in the carpet, sinking, feeling.
Spin me round again and rub my eyes.
This can't be happening.
When busy streets a mess with people
would stop to hold their heads heavy.
Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines.
All those years they were here first.
Oily marks appear on walls
Where pleasure moments hung before.
The takeover, the sweeping insensitivity of this
still life.
Hide and seek.
Trains and sewing machines. (Oh, you won't catch me around here)
Blood and tears,
They were here first.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that you only meant well? Well, of course you did.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it's all for the best? Because it is.
Mmm, what you say?
Mm, that it's just what we need? And you decided this.
Mmm what you say?
What did she say?
Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I don't believe you.
You don't care a bit. You don't care a bit.
Ransom notes keep falling out your mouth.
Mid-sweet talk, newspaper word cut-outs.
Speak no feeling, no I don't believe you.
You don't care a bit. You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.
You don't care a bit.

I had tears running down my face because it was so beautiful. There was no more souls to take and I was the only living. I didn't know the man was standing behind me until I felt that glowing warmth beginning to turn hot. I turned around in pain a bit and seen that his beady eyes were on me. Seeing right through me. "You know," he started to say, "you could join them. Hasn't it been your dream to see what's above and beyond? Now's your chance."
He's right. It has been my dream. I questioned life then in my adolecent years and I still question life through my mid-life years. And I wasn't going to leave behind anything or someone important. I've been taeching history-senior high school and college. I've been a man who doesn't believe so much and based life through science. And he was giving me a choice to take this crazy opportunity Only one person crossed my mind-my student, Justin. I don't know what had happened to him after the University was closed down but I recalled our last conversation we had when we said our good-byes.
"If it was ever possible to go back or make a change in history, I can believe in you, Professor Braddock." Justin had said.
"And why is that, Mr. Hall?"
"Because out of the debate discussions and crazy arguements, I have never seen someone with such passion believe in all that you believe in."
"Well, I never had a student like yourself before. Very challenging and it was quite entertaining...so where will Justin Hall go?"
"Staying right here to see the fire works. I don't have family to go to. But I think I found a reason to stay-when I get the chance to prove that I was right."
"Ah, no ifs, ands, or buts about it. Who ever she is, I hope it will work out for the time being."
"Thank you...and where will you be going?"
"'To infinity and beyond!'" I laughed at the sheer corniness of that retort yet Toy Story will always be an awesome movie to me. "Man, wouldn't I give if I can leave from here. Not here,
here but from this world together. To find out how things really was created."
"Ha. In order to do that, you have to give your life-or take it? One or the other I guess. But I wish you luck with whatever. Thank you, Professor Braddock..."
Justin was holding out his hand to me to shake it. I never could figure out what was it about this young man I admired. Whether it's the past, present, or the future of what the world has been and is going through, Justin's view of it all fascinated me. I'm going to miss him the most. And I thank him. This is my moment now and I would be a fool not to take it. So I stepped out from behind the dark shadows of the trees and into the light. Felt like everything I was carrying- burdens and worriness, I was leaving them behind. One of the three angels held out its hand to me. As I took it, all I can remember was the blinding light and seeing the glorious truth behind it all.

When I was told that the church was going to have this event, I too thought "how depressing". Until I think about where would I be now if I hadn't be here with them. My didn't pay attention to me then and she sure wasn't going to now if I was to stay in. And Rod? Yeah, there will be no doubt that's where I would've been with. Be one of the people that's raising hell along with folks that were getting crazier by the minute. I look back and I couldn't be more thankful that I was saved.
