out of there as fast as she could. She could barely hold her bile down long enough to make it to the camole, but somehow she did.

He didn’t like that his mother was feeling discomfort, he liked it even less because the way she felt was because of that stupid dick he had to call his father. His foot tapped as his wolf paced in his mind. He wanted to do something, wanting to make something hurt. That did nothing but disgust JJ, he hated violence. He knew that the world would be a better, brighter, happier place if everyone just calmed the fuck down with the violence. He could feel her eyes on him but it didn’t mean he had to recognize it. He watched some nameless television show as it flitted across the screen, he’d just have to make it in this house without punching someone. He could do that. Totally.

Just as her stomach finished flipping around her body his door opened. The female left first, her eyes amber and mocking as she winked to Samantha, wearing her mates shirt. The wolf in her growled, while the human in her just wanted to punch the cunt bitch in the face. Whoa, too much time with Luna. Her mate was next walking out with a sickened expression on as his eyes automatically locked on hers. He walked to the bathroom and stood in front of her.

“I wasn’t-“

“Save it, no explanations. She’s your mate, I was stupid to barge in like that.” He looked as if he wanted to say more, but he just shut up and nodded once. That hurt.

“We have to talk about JJ.”

“The kid?”

“Yes, the kid. Our-“ He put a hand over her mouth and backed her into the bathroom, then closed the door.

“What are you, crazy!?” HE whisper yelled to her, taking his hand off of her mouth.

“Why am I crazy?”

“You cannot just say things like that in the open!”

“And why can’t… Ohh. Oh this is rich. She doesn’t know he’s your son?” She asked, humor and anger lifting her lip.

“No, and I’d prefer not to deal with that headache just yet.”

“How can she not-“

“She’s slow.”

“Slow?”

“I’m highly positive she’s got a mental disorder, but the pack doctor said no.” She looked at him and laughed. She missed this, missed him. At that moment she’d realized, she was going to have him again. Whether Kenna the Luna wanted her to have him or not.

Chapter 25

Brandon watched in confusion as they sliced some whip onto his mates’ skin.

“I thought you said when I gave my wolf this would all end!?” He boomed, gesturing to the horror film he was watching.

“I had assumed your feelings for the girl died as well.” His mother shrugged, oblivious to the torture of a being.

“That’s a piss poor excuse!”

“Language. And it’s the only one I have.” His mother said, sighing greatly as if explaining herself caused her a great deal of time.

“I gave my wolf!”

“I know what you did dear, I was the one who had him delivered. He has been, safely.”  Brandon waited but she said nothing else.

“And?!?”

“And what, my heart?”

“Cut it with the fucking lovey dovey words! Why isn’t she getting saved.”

“Language. She isn’t getting saved because it’s not the time for that.”

“It’s not time for that? One of your children is being tortured daily and it’s not fucking time for that?!” He snarled at her, feeling angrier at his mother than he had ever felt in his life.

“Language.” She chided softly, exhaling a soft musical sigh. He felt it the, his wolf had bonded with the male in the human realm.

“Now, it’s time.” She smiled softly, as the glass globe clouded over.

Chapter 26

John stiffened as he stood straight, the ice cream cone in his hand was forgotten. Instead he could smell the bits of strawberry, tasted the cold cream on his tongue and could feel as the ice cream slid down the inside of the cone. Isaac came to a stop beside him, still licking his ice cream as he looked up at his father. We’ve got work human, a rough country voice said in his mind, no more lollygagging for you. John gasped and dropped his ice cream cone on the sidewalk.

“Dad? Dad, what’s wrong?”

“We’ve got to get to the pack house, now.” John said, grabbing his sons’ arm and rushing him to the truck that was loaned to him.

She barely held in her cry of pain as the electric whip grabbed hold of her torso and shocked every last bit of strength she fooled herself into having. The ends of her hair were spiked and the roots were frizzed and, she was pretty sure, were they to stop this she would still twitch from the ferocious aftershocks of the dangerous whip. The whip was turned off and she trembled, from what she didn’t know. She kept her eyes closed and tried her damndest to keep her heart from exploding in her chest.

“You’re tough.” Her mother said coldly, snatching the electric wire from around her mid-waist.

“I had you for a mother. It was either be tough, or be replaced by a full fey. I wouldn’t dare let someone suffer through you like I did.” Her voice cracked at every point, she hadn’t talked much. The only sounds she made were sounds of agony or sounds of frustration.

“Vanessa seemed to like my mothering.” Her mother spat out turning the whip back on. Valerie shivered as the air thickened between her and the metal device she loathed.

“Vanessa protected me, she took everything you dished and gave it to me in the form of respect and kindness.” She saw her mothers hand tighten on the hilt of the contraption but no blow was made.

“And what did I dish? Besides the love and discipline it takes to raise two girls by yourself.” Valerie snorted at that and rolled her eyes.

“You can’t still call yourself single after you killed our father. As to the love and discipline… well, you got the discipline part right.” Whoa, where was this coming from? How was this happening? Her mothers hand tightened to the point where the knuckles were turning white.

“I didn’t kill your-“

“I saw you. With my own eyes. I watched as you, the loving nurturing mother of two, killed said daughter of twos’ father right between the eyes.” Valerie shrugged her scarred and tired shoulders. Her mother lashed out then, but Valerie saw it, anticipated it and dodged out of the way.

“No.” Valerie said, feeling like herself again. Her mother lashed out once more, adding a slight grunt to it. It was aimed to slash and wrap around her waist, immobilizing her. Valerie merely ducked and rolled, unplugging the plugs that were attached to her skin by suction cups.

“How is she doing that?” She heard one of the scientists whisper in astonishment right before the hairs on the back of her neck stood up. She closed her eyes and leaped, kicking the two hunters in the back as they dove for her when she came back down. Her mother lashed out again, Valerie had no intention of moving. She reached out and wrapped her hand around the tip of the wire, continuously chanting the protection spell over and over in her mind. She wrapped more and more around, pulling and twisting as she went. Her mother kept tugging and adding to the voltage but Valerie showed nothing. To her it was nothing but a slight buzzing on her arm. She walked the rest of the distance, keeping the whip in her hand, between her mother until she stood front and center.

“I believe this,” She said as she punched her mother in the gut with the hand that was draped in electrical wiring “belongs to you.” She growled out grinding in her fist into her mothers stomach until she could no longer felt her heartbeat. Her mother dropped to the ground, her black shirt had been burned through along with some of her flesh but her face remained unmarred. She closed her eyes, sent her prayers to her Gods then turned to the rest of the hunters. She rolled her neck, feeling the strength and magic fill into her muscles and giving her energy.

“So… who’s next?”

The pack looked at him, all eyes wide and filled with wonder.

“How’d he get it back?” Was whispered throughout the crowd, he could hear it with the hearing that had been blessed upon him.

“She’s out there, I can feel her. She’s close.” He said, battling off the urge to shift for as long as possible, he could feel his canines lengthening and shortening at a quick rate. You’re taking too long human, his new wolf growled, precious time is being wasted while you sit here and dilly dally. He just wouldn’t respond to that.

“John, are you sure?” Molly asked, taking a step forward and crossing her arms over her stomach. He looked at her, his eyes amber and wild, as he nodded solemnly. She sighed softly as she looked to her pack.

“Go get her boys, bring our lost fairy back home.”

She stood panting in the lab, they were all dead. She didn’t care, they deserved to die, but she felt a little bad about killing her mother. Just a little. Nobody had come because she’d managed to kill everyone before they could alert anyone. She cracked her neck and walked out of the lab, making sure to shut the metal door and lock it. She’d stolen some clothes off some doctor in the lab that wore the same size as her. She hated leather, loathed it with an overwhelming passion, but she had to get out of here. She walked down the long white hallways to the elevator and quickly stepped in when it opened. She summoned up a small amount of magick and wiped her hand over the buttons. The floor she was looking for slowly came into view with a bold ‘W’. She pushed the button and stepped back, folding her arms in front of her black leather crop top. At least the girl was fashionable. She stepped out of the elevator and worked hard not to scrunch her nose. The stench was overwhelmingly disgusting. It smelled of fur, blood and death. She had to school her expression before someone saw her. She walked as if she had purpose to the nearest cage. The child inside looked up at her, her blue eyes wild and scared. She’d learned not to scurry to the side of the
