He sat me on a bench.
"I'll be back in a minute." he said, and pecked my lips. I rummaged in my bag for a clear lip gloss. Before he turned, we both saw a scrawny brunette walking toward us. She looked like an employee, with that tight silk yellow business suit. She wasn't even wearing a bra, and her breasts were clearly fake. So was her lips. Only Angelina Jolie should have those lips; they look good on her, but on Brunette they looked like a bee sting on her lips.
"Hey, Kavin. Remember me?" she said with a forced smile. I noticed her teeth were too white.
"Hello." Kavin said, sitting down beside me. I was glad for that, you could smell the evil coming off this girl.
"I think your girlfriend is too ugly. You should be dating me!"
Kavin held me tighter. "Ignore her, and she'll leave." he whispered in my ear. But he was wrong. She didn't leave, and she ranted about how ugly I was and how gorgeous Kavin was and how he should be dating someone he deserved. I tuned her out by looking at my favorite store, Christina's. Finally, finally, the brunette left.
"I'm sorry," Kavin says, looking at me. "My ex-girlfriend, Emily. She gets extremely jealous of anyone I date. I gave her the wrong impression that we were getting back together. Wait here. Buy whatever you want." he said, handing me a credit card.
As he walks away, I spot Jane.
"Hey, Jane!"
"Hey, girl!" We hug, and she introduces me to a hot African American polo-wearing guy.
"B, this is Kristofer, Kris, this is my absolute best friend Brook. Brook is hanging out with her boyfriend right now." I smile and shake Kristofer's hand. As they move on, Kavin appears again. He looks a tad upset.
"Is something wrong? I ask him. He pecks my hair.
"My belly hurts a little. Who was that?" he says, using an excuse.
"That was my best friend Jane and her date Kristofer." I say, and he relaxes a little. I just now notice that he is holding something behind his back. I see a tip of something red. He pulls his hand out from behind his back. It's a bouquet of red roses.
"Oh, Kavin! These are beautiful!" I say excitedly, taking the flowers from him. I am thrilled with him now, I love roses. He looks around, and his mouth opens a bit, he closes it, and his jaw tightens. I turn to where he's looking and see my ex-boyfriend.
Reid is looking at us with a curious, interested, slightly jealous look. I pull Kavin's sleeve the opposite direction.
He looks mad, I am thinking. I am slightly annoyed with Reid. Kavin is clearly not happy.
He bends down and kisses my cheek, which Reid doesn't like. The look in his eyes was pure hatred. Then to murder, then he looks like he's cooking up a scheme, which I don't like. All of my favorite people are a little bit crazy, but not the vicious or malicious kind of crazy! Not the 'I'm going to get revenge on my ex-girlfriend and her new boyfriend because I can't get my head straight' kind of crazy.
Otherwise, the date was perfect. Kavin took me to lunch at the Chinese restaurant in the food court and we each bought some things. He bought a blue polo shirt that I said I liked before he even saw it, and I bought some makeup and clothes and jewelry. I saw a beautiful green scarf, but it costed way too much, like in the hundreds of dollars.
I also saw a pretty green dress that I had to try on. But, it costed over two hundred dollars! So that was off my list. Kavin bought me a red lip gloss, which was totally unexpected and...I didn't know whether to feel flattered or creeped out. Maybe he liked deep relationships.
But it was too soon, and I pondered how to tell him that. No, that was stupid. It's just a lip gloss. Who cares about the shade? (It was a Victoria's Secret Lip Cherry Lip Gloss.) We left after I browsed the racks at Wet Seal and bought a sweater. It wasn't just any sweater, it had Betty Boop in full color on it. There was also one with other cartoon and comic females, including Wonder Woman and Harlequin. I was tempted by the Wonder Woman sweater, but it was just way too much with the Betty Boop sweater. I promised her I'd be back for her, then we headed to Kavin's car.
Kavin looked in his rearview mirror, cursed under his breath, and turned back to the road.
"What's wrong?" I asked him.
"Your ex-boyfriend is following us. Shit, I'm getting a restraining order." he said.
"Don't bother, I'll talk to him." I told him, patting his arm. He nodded, and to my surprise, lit up a cigarette. I'll admit I've tried cigarettes once or twice. Okay, more than twice, more like eleven times, ten times at parties. The one time I didn't try it at a party, I stole it out of my sister's purse. (She'd kill me if she knew.) j
Kavin offered me a cig, and I took it. Marlboro Menthol. Yum. I know, smoking is bad, and you can scold me all you want.
Kavin dropped me off at home. Jane was waiting for me on the porch with Brigid and Khloe. Jane's glasses now had a white background with black polka dots. Cute. Khloe looked like she was getting ready for dance, her shirt had sequins and her mid-length skirt had lots of glitter on it. Her Toms were also sparkly.
Kavin looked slightly nervous. Indeed, the moment he stopped, Jane was at his window.
I stepped out quickly so she would embarass me too much. She played Twenty Questions with him before I could say good-bye to him. He leaned over and kissed me again.
"I'll see you at school. Bye, Brook."
"Bye." He kissed me again before leaving. I saw Reid watching him from his porch. Reid was also smoking and drinking some sort of red drink. I walked up to him. I saw my sister and friends watching me from our porch.
"Why did you follow us?" I demanded. Reid just smiled and shook his head.
"Baby, if you must know, think back to our conversation from earlier. I completely lost self-control. I lost myself in general. I can't stand him. There's something about Kavin that I don't like. He's bad news, Brook."
"You're jealous. And drinking."
"I am jealous and I am drinking, but I'm also being serious right now. I don't like the way he bought that shirt after you said you like it. I don't like the fact that it was him buying stuff for you and not me. Do you still have that lip gloss?"
I pulled it out, and he snatched it away.
"Victoria's Secret? Please. That should be me buying you this lip gloss and not that mothereffingfecker."
"Huh?" I asked. He shoved the lip product into my bra, where his hand lingered for a moment. "Oh God...oh, how I miss this. Brook, will you have sex with me?" I slapped him.
That's exactly how this whole mess started. He said those exact words. I left, and Khloe inquired what happened. I explained our whole conversation.
"He actually put his hand in your bra?" Jane said. "Then he asked you to have sex with him? He's lost it, honestly."
We discussed it some more before Jane and Khloe left for a bit. We get agreed to try to get into an all-ages club later.
The Weird Girl
He met me at the library. Kavin had History extra credits. In fact, he had all sorts of extra credits he wanted to do. I needed help in a couple of subjects, Science and History.
He nudged my ankle a bit. I nudged his back. Suddenly, someone dropped a brochure on our table. It was sexy long-haired blonde dressed in black. She wore leather pants, leather thigh-high boots, and a leather shirt that looked more like a bra. She must have been hot, because every man looked at her. She picked up a book and looked at the spine and the back. I looked at it. It said "How To Deal With a Cheater: Cheaters and Their Habits."
I recognized that book, my mother read it many times over. Then I looked at the brochure. It said "Domestic Violence: How To Deal".
"What the heck?" I asked, picking it up. I looked up at Kavin, and he looked troubled.
"Are you all right?" I asked him.
"I am," he answered. He looked back down at his work and reread a passage in his textbook.
He worked until it was time for us to go. I took the brochure, just in case. In case I did get into a relationship I couldn't get out of, or for a clue. Kavin kept looking at the brochure with a nervous look.
"What's wrong?"
He looked up and shook his lovely blonde shair.
"Nothing. Brook, let's continue." He didn't speak much for the three hours we were there. If I asked him a yes or no question, he merely nodded or shook his head. I asked him to pronounce a tough word, but he just looked at it.
"What are you working on?" I finally asked out of frustration.
"History. Extra credit." he answered. He did offer me a little smile, and butterflies fluttered in my tummy. He turned back to his work. His full lips parted, he cleared his throat, and he closed his eyes for a second, then opened them again.
He pulled something from his pocket, a small box incased with red and black velvet. He carefully handed it to me. Well, everyone likes gifts, but giving a gift on the second date is just plain weird. Unless it's a flower or two. But a Bvlgari necklace? That's something my mother would only get me for my birthday, Christmas or Hannukah. (Strange as it sounds, we celebrate both holidays. My mother is Jewish and Dad is a Christian.)
Anyways, Kavin told me his religion (Christianity) and his favorite Christian singer was Jeremy Camp. (That's my favorite Christian hunk, but I didn't tell him.) His biggest celebrity crush is Angelina Jolie, mine is a tie between Kevin Hart and Channing Tatum.
He finished his work around the same time I did. I licked and chewed on my lips, hoping he'd notice. This is so random, but he was so damn hot. Especially when his eyebrows shifted together when he was deep in thought. He looked up at me and smiled. He bent forward and pecked my lips, earning us a look from the old couple at another table. Kavin and I picked up our things and headed toward his car.
A blond was seen eyeing us from across the lot. I couldn't get a close look, but I saw a blue and white cheerleading outfit. Kavin glanced at her, then turned away. A curly-haired hottie wrapped his muscular football-arm around her. She didn't focus on him until Kavin opened his front door. Then she turned away.
"Kavin?" I asked, after five minutes of sitting
