Chapter 1
Man, this town is messed up
, I thought as I strolled through this brand new town that I was going to live in for the rest of my life. Gross
. Everything here is just so…lively. Colorful. Terrible.
Everyone here knows each other here and it’s annoying. They all say hello to each other. Four people have come up to me today saying things like “Oh, you’re the new girl!”, or “Didn’t you just move here? I’d love to have dinner with your family sometime!” They probably pee and poop rainbows. They’re all perky, and happy. It sickens me.
I don’t know exactly where I’m going, but I must get somewhere soon. Ah, that looks like a nice little place. Ted’s Tattoo Shop.
As I walked into the store I felt eyes staring at me. I don’t know if it’s good attention or bad attention but I like it. It’s probably because of my many piercings and tattoos (which I might mention I got illegally from my brother, who doesn’t even have a tattooing license).
“ Um, hi,” I heard a male voice say behind me.
This would’ve never happened back home. We don’t say hi to strangers in my hometown. Don’t these peoples’ parents ever tell them not to talk to strangers?
“Hey,” I returned, turning around.
He was an okay looking guy, nothing special though.
“So, you, uh, just moved here, right?” Asked stranger boy.
Word must travel fast round here.“Yeah, what about it?” I asked, annoyance clear in my voice.
“I don’t know. Um, I guess I just wanted to introduce myself” He looked like talking to me was the hardest thing he’s ever done in his life. I swear I thought he was going to cry the minute he said another word to me.
“ Yeah, well I thought I’d introduce you to this finger” I retorted sticking up my middle finger in his face.
He just smiled and walked away.
What was that? God, he’s such an asshole, and I barely know him!
Chapter 2
“So, then I tell him that I’m not the…”Babbled Leiah, my brother’s girlfriend.
I zoned out and stopped listening to my brother’s girlfriend talk about crap that doesn’t even make sense. She was going on about how she’s scared my brother might dump her for another girl. It didn’t even matter anyway, they’ve been going out on and off for the past year. They always make up after an argument, yet she always comes to me with her relationship problems.
When my brother first met Leiah I wasn’t too fond of her. It’s not that she wasn’t pretty but she just clings too much. She’d text him a thousand times a day, hug him every time she had a chance, kiss him in public, and she laughs at everything he says. I guess the saying ‘opposites attract’ is true; she’s short, he’s tall, she’s colorful and jolly, while my brother’s the punk type. Leiah goes to college with Josh yet she can never get enough of him. We moved here a week ago because apparently there are ‘better job opportunities’. Who cares? So since Josh goes to college dad figured we could move somewhere near his dorm house. Right after we moved into this new house he’s been living with us. And Leiah too, technically.
“..Right?” She asked.
“Right, totally, you’re so right.” I replied, a tone of sarcasm in my voice.
I think she sensed the sarcasm because she sighed and went once again into my brother’s bedroom. He’s not even there. I think she went in there to sniff his clothes. I found her doing that once; I walked into my brother’s room and I saw Leiah looking through his closet. She pressed one of his T-shirts to the skin of her arms and then sniffed it. I was in the doorway for about five seconds and she didn’t see me. The girl’s a weirdo, but when I told my brother about what I saw he just laughed and said “nah” drawing out the the A. I force myself to think that normal couples are like them but I can never believe myself.
“Yo, what up?” Asked my brother when he came into the house.
“Hey” I replied.
“Mom and dad here?” He asked.
“No, why?” I asked, suspiciously.
“What about Leiah?”
“She’s in your room” I answered.
“Damnit, why won’t she leave me alone?” He muttered to himself.
“Yay! I’ve been waiting for you all day, Josh!” Cried Leiah, as she came running into the living room, hugging Joshua.
It’s true she came to our house at 6:00 am asking for Joshua. She’s been here ever since.
“Leiah, how many times do I have to tell you that I’m not your boyfriend anymore. You’re annoying.” Said Josh.
“None of that is true. We’re madly in love you just don’t know it.” She was clearly in denial.
“Well, this is interesting,” I piped it. “Keep talking.”
Joshua sighed and went to his new room. Just down the hall I heard Leiah yelling for Josh to open the door.
“Leave me alone, you crazy, bitch!” I heard Josh yell from his bedroom.
That was a little harsh.
I still didn't get to hear what he wanted to tell me when he walked in. Fuck it.
