Cloak accidentally grazes against brick and debris, scaring an emaciated cat.

Somewhere in the distance, an owl howls like a coyote in response.

Unexpected dead end: fight or flight, hide or seek?

Her stealthy stilettos hit uneven asphalt, betraying their proximity. I turn around to face her for one last time…
