Author's Note:

I'm nocturnal by nature and don't fare well in the sun, so all the "darkest before dawn" clichés are lost on me. Pondering these phrases so often offered to the bereaved, I began playing with the homophones "morning" and "mourning" and eventually came to this.

The cover was quickly painted in GIMP while the poem was fresh in my mind, and may be revised later.
