As yet untitled
Too eager, too young,
Boot prints dot no-man's land like gravestones,
Cold wire cuts at tender flesh,
Hungry, Lustful,
Moans of despair hidden beneath the screams of murder.
Shells and gunfire,
Terror and courage,
To die a hero or to survive a hollow shell?
Lead and metal,
Gas and Horses forgotten,
Pain the Fuel.
A dull ache of sorrow,
Overshadowed by trained hatred,
A red sky to match the bloodshed,
The clouds, souls returning to the distant homeland.
The ever present reaper,
Bringing evermore pain,
No sign of the glory,
Pro Patria Mori,
Death on the breeze,
Mud up to the knees.
Frost shattered by bombs,
Trees torn and burnt,
Bodies damaged beyond repair,
Twisted Thinking,
Will we ever learn to care?
