The Season of Winter
This is no time for sissies to venture out in the
frigid weather.
The streets piled high with mounds of the white snow.
With roads plowed life crawling by with places to go.
Newscasters giving warnings: causing oh such fright.
Not being outside too long for fear of frostbite.
Hopefully people aware of this wicked cold knew,
and stocked up on the essentials of life the thing to
do.
Little children with their faces against the windowpane
held back by the icy hand of winter what a shame.
Being locked inside bored and pacing the floor
till the temperatures rose once more.
They are not allowed out they do what they can
but miss having a snowball fight, building a snowman.
It doesn’t seem fair that at least half of the
country’s in a freeze
and the west coast has a Santa Ana breeze.
Snow
In the days end when all the earth is asleep.
The crystal vaults of heaven
yawn.
Propelling and flittering flakes dance to an
unknown melody. Dressing the loam below in a flowing gown of downy alabaster.
Even the most common object is a treat for the eyes to behold all temporarily disguised and sheltered in a blanket, milky white. Inhaling the peaceful air with a pure and clean scent.
To observe the beauty before any footsteps have left their marks.
