within me wake

I cry in despair

with anger and hate

I stare down the tunnel

of deepening death

I close my eyes

I hold my breath

Suddenly Satan

echoes his laugh

Spirits inside me

fight him back

knowing my wounds

would never heal

I imagined my heart

made of steel

I remember the pain

of all those years

and suddenly wake

with frightened tears
