The Bridge
(Dedication to my Grandmother)
You are the bridge that took us across
Through every storm
Through every sunshine
During the day and in the night
You are the bridge that took us across
Not man made but GOD made
You were strong enough to hold us all up
You were long enough to let us go our distance
You were wide enough to let us stay in our own lanes
But narrow enough for us to cross each other's paths
You are the bridge that took us across
You are the reason why we were able to get to our destinations safely
Even though we sometimes needed to exit off
We always had to come back to the bridge
Thank you for being our bridge
You never broke and let us fall in the water and drown
We could never go under you, we could never go around you
Because we needed YOU to make it through
Imagine the world without a bridge
We would be stuck
We would be stranded
We would be lost
Thank you for being the bridge that took us across!

God Answers Prayers
(In the memory of my Aunt Jean)
I had been praying for awhile
For God to save me
I asked God to heal my body
I asked God to set me free
I had been a faithful servant to His word
I knew he wouldn’t forsake me
Because God answers prayers
As days went by
I often glanced at the sky
Wondering if my Father heard my cries
I asked God when He chooses His next Angel to please not pass me by
I’m ready to spread my wings and fly
I knew He would come for me
Because God answers prayers
One morning I said my final prayer
I had been tired of fighting
I knew with God I could never die
Because through Him I am healed, free and granted everlasting life
I took one final look at the sky
And with a blink of an eye I saw an amazing sight
God came down to me
He extended His hand and said “Child well done”
Heaven is now where you will be
I wrapped my arms around God oh so tightly
Now I can rejoice in Heaven because I am FREE
Thank you Father for healing me
You answered my prayer

A Daughter’s Prayer
(In memory of my father)
Father God I ask that You protect my father and hold him tight.
Please give him strength in his angelic wings to fly.
I know that he is in a better place.
He is finally free and healed; how amazing is God’s grace!
Please take him on a tour of Heaven and let him know that even though we miss him, we understand that he had to go.
For there is no greater reward than to be in Heaven surrounded by love, but most of all, Your presence.
I ask that You comfort us on earth as we wish him farewell, only to see him again in time.
If he could speak to us now I am sure he would say, do not cry tears of sorrow for I am okay.
God has heard your prayer and I am with Him now.
If you ever need me, I will always be around.
Look up at the sky at the twinkling stars.
Somewhere I am dancing in the moonlight; I promise I am not far.
My work on earth is done but in Heaven my work has just begun!
Until we meet again, I love you with all my heart.
I am enjoying my new home, but just know we will never part!

God Take the Wheel
As I sit here holding my pen
Waiting for my thoughts to seep through the ink and onto paper
I reflect on the long, bumpy road that has brought me to this place
This place of solace, this place that has made me who I am
I can only be thankful of God and His many plan B’s for my life
I realized that maybe the plans I set for myself where not HIS ultimate goals for me.
Even though He was driving the car A.K.A. my life, I still wanted to take the wheel.
Actually on numerous occasions I took the wheel, made illegal turns, got stuck in traffic for hours, develop road rage and became so impatient.
God didn’t fight with me either. Whatever I wanted to do He let me and He just rode shotgun.
And every time I had to make a u-turn because I lost my way He just smiled and asked if I wanted Him to take back the wheel.
I knew in my heart that He was a way better driver than me BUT I needed to control this. This is my life, my destiny and I had to get wherever I was going on my time.
As I looked down at my watch and looked ahead at the sea of colorful cars I realized that yes time was flying but I was getting nowhere…FAST.
Then I look over to my pal Jesus and my Father and again He smiled and asked if I was ready for Him to drive.
I kept saying oh no God let me continue to drive I will get there you’ll see. I just need to stop off at the nearest electronic store and buy a navigation system so I can take alternate routes. God smiled and let me do what I wanted. God is so patient with me.
The navigation system was in place with my final destination and approximately how many miles left to get there and I just thought to myself "I got this." But the navigation system is "man-made" not "God-made" so there were some "errors." When I took a detour because of "road work" ahead, my navigation system wouldn't re-calculate from the point where I was to get me to my destination. How frustrating?! I looked over at God and I was like what do I need to do get it right? God said, "Let me take over." And I did. When God took the wheel I didn't have any fender benders, I was never lost, no road rage…NOTHING. I was at peace knowing that I had the SAFEST driver in the world! Now I must be honest from time to time I want to practice driving and take the wheel but when I reflect on how poor my driving skills are I just let God drive!!! Amen!
