Science is what God reveals to us, at a pace our minds can appreciate - Denis Githinji.

What does it mean?

Cash! The miser revels in his stash
Dash! Busy leaving in a rush!
Mash! What happens after a crash
Splash! The water comes down in a gush

Hay, what is made on a sunny day
Gay, smiles on children while at play
Way, what was lost when you went astray
Pray, families kneeling down on Sunday

Jill, she who followed Jack up the hill
Kill, what the gangsters do along with steal
Wheel, the wooden one that spins the wind mill
Grill, a certain way of making a mill.

Lend, what one does for others to spend
Send, defining tasks for others to attend
Tend, what you do so you don't have to mend
End, when there's nothing more to append.

The Reason

Have you ever had a friend
Who lies close to your thougts
Who holds you to the end
Having everything you ever sought?

Have you ever had someone
Who holds you to her breast
When a hunger beats your quest
She makes you be the only one?

Have you ever?
Have you never?
Had some one gush themselves to blood
For your life, for your existence?
As she frees you from herself
And gives you life?

I have
You have
We have

Her name's Mother.

Day and night

A thousand thousand thousand lights
Failed to prevail upon the might
Upon the omnipresent lack of sight
That went by the name of night

A dark big, blue-black engulfing cloud
Like a woman of Kush dark and proud
Stood from one horizon to the next
Daring anyone to stand the test

All her creatures took her colour
All others, fled for cover
Into their houses they all went
For their love for war and hate was spent

The war seemed fought and lost and won
Usiku* the victor Mchana* the vanquished
But far away along the coast
The throne would slowly be relinquished

Just as we thought that day was no more
A small ember flickered, a tiny glow
At the horizon, exchanging fists
Were day and night, in the east

In the midst of the battle, a death blow
From the surface of the earth, a cock crow
And from then on it was touch and go
Gradually, minute by minute
Night became minute

The day’s dynasty was now established
Its laws and orders already published
But what goes round comes around
The lady of Kush will rise again!

Usiku* - Night
Mchana* - Day

Look Before You Leap

No my poem i will not write
This of course is well in spite
Because theres no one here to read
And it's a lonely place indeed

No this time i will not blunder
Laying my words here asunder
Nor will I my words relay
With gushing passion here betray

Shouting at shadows in a cave
Is all that's left of this enclave
I loved you all, you loved me too
If only we knew if only we knew

Beautiful Life

With a golden heart as big as Aisha's*
We all hope to take on maisha*
Like a lily floating down a stream
We launch our hopes our fears and dreams

Like Children splashing in a pond
We cannot know what lies beyond
But we splash happily nonetheless
Cos we know God is there to bless

Life is beautiful, seen through new eyes
Possessed by only a few of the wise
And everyday bodes fresh surprise
So jump as you were born to rise!

*Aisha - a good friend of mine
*Maisha - Swahili for life

Peace,

Peace flows slowly like a breath
Through crevices dark as death
Wait for it it's coming through
Clean and wide and sky lit blue

Peace is like the unseen guest
Quietly bringing in the best
Of silence, calm and lovely rest
And also refreshing hopeful zest!

Piece will come not piece by piece
More like a wholesome kiss of bliss
When you feel it in your soul
Your body, mind and spirit whole

Sunshine,

She's beautiful, I like her voice
Her smile makes me want to rejoice
Her face is full of style and grace
Her laughter love and warm embrace

Dancing pen on paper bright
Eyes like fireflies twinkling bright
Aching for that wondrous site
This can't be wrong this must be right!

Sometimes

I'm happy at least some of the time
How are you lately? I guess just fine
Walking talking rocking now
shining flying flowing wow!

I'm average at least some of the time
Except when I rhyme then I'm simply sublime
Sometimes I'm glad sometimes I'm sad
Mostly it's ok but sometimes it's bad

I'm poor to penury in between these times
With thoughts darker than Gollum's slime
When I'm like this more dis than bliss
Then alas! my good sides you'll sorely miss.
