Mara is your quiet good girl. She comes home on time and does her homework. She is the one in the back. The one nobody notices, but she likes it that way because no one will bother her. She likes her space and time, but why did she feel so lonely today.
She sat in the library searching the shelves for something good to read again. It seemed like she read every book in this library. She ran her fingers against the spines of the books, until her finger stopped at one book.
The city of bones. She never seen this one in the library. It must be new she thought to herself.
She walked up to the front desk placing the book on the desk and looked up. She didn't find her friendly librarian. The one who always greeted with her a smile as she scanned her books.
Instead she found a boy. His feet were propped up against the desk. He was on his phone. She stood there not sure what to do.
He looked up at her. His lips parted as he stared at her for awhile. She felt uncomfortable with his heavy stare.
" Hello Sweetheart " He said his face spread into a smile. Not a friendly one. More like a predator ready to pounce and go in for the kill. She didn't say anything. She didn't know what to say.
She stared at the book hoping he would get the message that she just wanted her book to be scanned so she could get out of here.
" She doesn't speak " He says as he grabs the book and scans it. He hands the book to her, but she noticed his finger brushing her hand. His lips part again.
This is one strange boy. She swiveled around and walked out of the library.

Mara grabs an apple from the cafeteria. She rubs at the shininess. She didn't know where to sit today. She sat different places everyday. Her therapist told her to try something new everyday. That was trying something new everyday right? It didn't matter she wasn't really all about trying new things.
She finally found a spot in the corner on the window sill. She walked slowly there. She wasn't in any hurry for anything.
She could read her book and enjoy this apple in peace. She settled in the corner opening the book.

"YOU'VE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME," THE BOUNCER SAID, folding his arms across his massive chest. He stared down at the boy in the red zip-up jacket and shook his shaved head. "You can't bring that thing in here."
The fifty or so teenagers in line outside the Pandemonium Club leaned forward to eavesdrop. It was a long wait to get into the all-ages club, especially on a Sunday, and not much generally happened in line. The bouncers were fierce and would come down instantly on anyone who looked like they were going to start trouble. Fifteen-year-old Clary Fray, standing in line with her best friend, Simon, leaned forward along with everyone else, hoping for some excitement.
"Aw, come on." The kid hoisted the thing up over his head. It looked like a wooden beam, pointed at one end. "It's part of my costume."
The bouncer raised an eyebrow. "Which is what?"
The boy grinned. He was normal-enough-looking, Clary thought, for Pandemonium.-__

Mara was cut off by the sound of very rowdy boys that picked the table next to her. She looked up and found him again. The guy from the library. She was even more startled to find him staring at her. He didn't hide it either. He stared right into her eyes and bit his lip. She gasped at how rude this boy was. She grabbed her things and shoved her book in her bag and hurried off from the strange man.
" Wait " The boy yelled and she turned around. She didn't know why she turned around, but she knew she shouldn't have. She should have kept walking.
She turned to face him. The boy held a red apple in his hand.
" You forgot this " He smiled.
" I don't need it " She mumbled.
" So she does speak, would you look at that " He said chuckling to himself like he had his own private joke. She didn't reply she simply turned around and kept walking.
This time he didn't say anything and she was glad.
