had over thousands people so people were put into different groups based on their talents. Joe Stark was a Mail Carrier. We have millions of other jobs like, scientist, bankers, minters, tailors, and stuff like that. I was a zombie hunter, but only because my father was.
“I wouldn’t say that…” Joe sighed.
“You are. Hey, this letter doesn’t have a return address.” Joe took the letter and looked at its front and back. He handed it back.
“It seems so.” He said slinging his mail bag back around his body. , “In the south wing, some kids have been erasing all the addresses.” He took his pen out of his bag and opened my dorm’s door. , “Was the address important?”
“No, I don’t think so. At least, not yet. Have a moan - free day, Joe.” I said as I slammed the door behind him. I sat in a recliner and sighed quietly. I didn’t want to wake up Jamie, Ginger, Carol, and Cleo. I sighed and looked at the clock. 12:00AM; almost time to train. I wanted to read the letter but I wanted to wait for my friends. Curiosity took over me and I opened it.
Hello Piper,
This is Queen Zumba. I forgot to tell you where to find me. I am in Texas, the most zomified area. Good luck. I’m hard to find. I’ve been watching you. Ever since you were little. You are outstanding… well, for a human. Think fast;
LOVE QUEEN Zumba.
P.S. Your father says hi.
I crumpled the paper and through it beside me. Stupid-no-good-rotten-. But then I reached for it and uncrumpled it. I need to wait for them.
“I’ve been awake since Joe was flirting with you.” Ginger said peering down from her top bunk. I rolled my eyes.
“He wasn’t…”
“Yes he was, Pipes.” Ginger laughed and Cleo and Jamie rubbed their eyes. Jamie looked at her watch and curled under her warm, wool blanket.
“Pipes, its fricken 12:00! I don’t wanna train. I wanna spray paint the blacksmithing building at 1:00, eat lunch, beat up some walking dead, eat again, and sleep. That too much to ask?” Jamie muffled under the blanket. I flipped the blanket off her.
“Whoops?” I said smiling. Jamie sat up and sighed. I had shared this room with my friends for over 13 years. So long ago we had our cribs in here. The walls were a pale rose color and all the pieces of furniture were a light purple. My father refused to buy us new paint. I banged on the wall. We hear some thuds and cursing from other room. We all smirked. Max walked in glaring.
“You made me fall outta my bed.” Max said through narrowed eyes. I stuck out my tongue. I read the notes to my friends. I kind of stumbled on a couple words because of the crumplings in the paper. So I might’ve said “fart” instead of forget. Max scoffed and grabbed a map from the large bookshelf at the right side of the room. “I say we start from where we are, which is right here on my fabulous map book.” Max pointed to a pin in his map book. “To Texas. As Piper tells us is where Queen Whatever is” Max pointed to another pin. “So around 1500 miles.” Jamie grimaced. She hated walking. She’d rather watch Full House re-runs then walk that far. Ginger smiles.
“If we were to walk, we would need everybody. Including Taylor. Who just passed her test, “Ginger started.
“Well, it could be a good opportunity for her to learn some new skills.” I said. Taylor had been found only a year ago off the coast of Washington. Her and her little brother followed me and ginger all the way back. Taylor had long, black, straight hair. Her skin was a slight mix between coffee and freshly-overturned dirt. She was pretty good at wit, but we hadn’t seen her do anything outstandingly stupid yet (And doing something like that can be GOOD and BAD, folks)
“Hello?! If you we’re going to get there in time, we need a ride.” Max said sliding the map into his backpack. “Or at least at one time.” Jamie looked up from her bag. She had a slight look of danger in her eyes.
“I say… We walk from here for awhile. That gate” She said pointing outside. “Is pure Leginity. The zombies that r in the area for today are gone. All we need is to pack and tell Hunter Jones.” Everybody stood straighter at my uncle’s name. He was co-head hunter. my father and his team was in charge for all the zombie bases around the globe. he wasnt the best uncle, but that wasn’t what the world needed. They needed a leader. I grabbed my bow and slung it over my shoulder.
“Let’s go talk to him, then?” I said with a slight displeasment.

CHAPTER 3

My Uncle had an office that was one of those that you go ‘Ooh your important!’ Sept, you know, he was as cruel as a bull. He was tall, and always wore his armor. Hes face was long and judging. He was always the one who told me I had to do everything better when I would train. I almost avoided him. But he had to approve us. We knocked on his door.
“What? Who is it!?” My uncle’s rough voice called through the closed door. My friends shuffled nervously to his voice like they almost always did.
“Um uncle, it’s-it’s Piper.” I said smally back. There was shuffling of papers.
“Come in,”
I twisted the knob and slipped in. My friends made their way to the door but my uncle put up a hand.
“ONLY you, piper.” He said coldly. I shrugged to my friends and closed the door. I walked over to the edge of his table. On the right-side of the room I spotted two large bookshelves. And on the other a door, a door he never let anybody into. He cleared his throat and I stood straighter and looked at him. “What would you like, I’m busy sending out calling distresses for your father.”
“Well…actually Uncle… I got a call from a woman, well I think she was a woman, and her name was Queen Zumba I guess- “ My uncle sat up straighter to that name. It made a shiver go up my spine. He knew her, aswell? I choose to say nothing. I cleared my throat. “Uh and she says she’s- she’s uh taken him.” My uncle studied me almost harder than he had before. It made me uneasy. Even more than when I watched my friend in 2nd grade get ripped to pieces after a bet. I shook my head and matched his gaze.
“And exactly how does this help me, girl?” He said crossing his arms. I twiddled my fingers.
“Well, Uncle, She told me we had to find him. You know like the last Easter egg, or so I’ve heard from tales. Um 4 days exactly. She said she had surprises planned-“
“You think I’m an idiot?” He scoffed. “You’re not going! I mean, I would send your sister and all the rest of the older hunters, but not you and your friends. At least she didn’t drive the-“
“That was an accident!!”
“You drove the hunter’s car into a pond!!”
“I told you, that was an accident. And this is totally unfair.” I spat back. My uncle looked at me surprised and sat back in his chair.
“I said no.” He said in a blank, unreadable tone. I glared and put my hands on his table with such force the books and papers on the papers shuffled, a few fell. My uncle’s brown eyes watched the feel papers fall. I felt my face get warm from anger.
“I have too! He’s my father! If I don’t do anything he will end up like Kayla! And-and Jazzy and all the rest of my friends you WATCHED die. You could’ve done something, Uncle.” I yelled. Uncle just stared at me blankly.
“Leave me.”
“But-“
“Piper, Now!” His voice was still as low and stern as always, it seemed as though he just screamed at me in a whisper. I huffed and stormed out. My friends looked at me with concern. I could tell they heard everything.
“So… Nice family chat uh?” Jamie said in a sarcastic tone. Max glared at her.
“Uh, it’s ok piper.” Max said. I shook my head; my face starting to fade from the angry red. I balled my hands into fists.
“We’ll just have to go without his approval.”
