“Hey, you have to do the p2p, you know?” A voice said to me knocking me out of his daze. It was the first day of school and nobody said a word to me. It was science class, my sixth period, so I was utterly surprised that she said something to me.

“Huh?” I replied to the direction in which the question came.

“I said. ‘You know that the p2p is mandatory and in order to get credit you have to do it’. Pay attention.” She renounced. And if that’s not enough she whispered what I thought was: freshman.

“I’m not a freshman! I just come from out of town!” I whispered loud enough so that three students turned to me and shushed me. My temper had gotten the best of me, for some odd reason the “being called” a freshman was irritating.

“I didn’t call you a freshman, I called you a-.” The teacher caught her saying that before she finished and sent her away from me. So I never found out what she called me.

I was looking at her with disposition, when my classmate told me her name. “That’s a girl you don’t want to mess with, her name is Cleao Ellie Krin, daughter of Calvin Krin.”

I shrugged. ”Whose that?”

“You don’t know who he is?” He asked with a little too much excitement.

` I shook my head. Who was this Calvin- guy? I thought. Why is he so important?

The guy stared at me for a few moments, studying me. “So you really don’t know.”

“Just tell me, already.” I demanded.

“Calvin Krin is a wealthy business man, who made the prop 121 that allowed there to be vigilantes. It’s also rumored that he was the infamous White Magician, which would also mean he made the Vigilante Program, VP, and B.A.S.E. And there were some witnesses that claimed that they were saved by him when the First Encounter of 2012. You seriously need to pay more attention to the news, dude.” He said all of that, while still doing the p2p.

“Oh, that Calvin, I heard he’s running for president of Australia .” I said.

“Nah, that’s pure fiction if I ever heard it. I’m Freddie Sunverez, local reporter, nice to meet you.” He introduced.

“Zeph-Arin, new student, you probably heard.” I replied. “Hey aren’t you a little too young to be a reporter.”

“Not at the school, I’m not.” Fred said. “And I will be lead reporter for the Newlands’s papers, hopefully. So not everything I do is a complete waste.”

For the next half an hour, all we talked about was life and dumb that is, school and how boring that is, and Cleao and who the hell she think is.

In seventh period, I found out that the potential president’s daughter was in my class again. Seeing her again made me froze. I saw she was reading a black book as I walked to the seat next to her. I looked around making sure I wasn’t making a huge mistake walking toward her.

The class was old musky and littered with pictures of old politics and a person, I assumed was the teacher, on trips to other countries. It’s not a big class, so all of the chairs were taken except the one next to Cleaopatra. It seemed that I was going to continue the atrocious day.

She looked up as I sat down. Her lips broke off as if to say something but they closed almost immediately. She looked back down the book, which up close now looked kind of navy blue- ish and very old like a middle age bible. The teacher that came in the room was like and older version of the guy in the pictures. He went to the white board and wrote his name: Jon Hersh in massive letters. Some of the kids around us laughed as if the name was an inside joke. I looked around in confusion.

“What is so funny?” I whispered to the person next to me before noticing that the person next to me hated me.

“Hersh as in Hershey. These kids are kind of immature. You’ll get used to.” She said calmly without looking up from the blue book. I saw that she was mouthing the words as she read the book.

“Umm, okay. What are you reading?” I asked trying to sound as interested as possible.

“A book.”

“What is the name?”

“Do you really want to know or are you just trying to make small talk.”

“I would not be asking if I didn’t.” I responded hoping to be reassuring.

She looked at my face and studies it just like she did with the book. A modest smile grew on her lips. I studied her, right back. For the first time I noticed her beauty, the perfect lips and the sky blue eyes. Her silky blonde hair that flowed down her right side making it looks like a golden river. She looked like an angel. I couldn’t help but turn away.

“Okay I’ll tell you.” She shrugged. “It’s technically not a book it’s a prophecy about the family of the guardians. They used to be a royal family in the pre middle ages. They were strong and brave, every royal and peasant feared them. Until one wise man claimed that the Guardians will fall by their own blade. This caused panicked and soon the first son broke off and murdered his father...” It was obvious that this subject was damn important to her. I should have paid attention to what she said, but her excitement made her so attractive. The words seem to leap through her lips into the air. “… Anyway I still believe that the curse of Cra.K still exists and that the next big war is on the way, you know?” Cleaopatra looked at me expecting an answer.

“Umm. Yeah totally I think any things possible.” I smiled.

“I can’t wait to see who the hero is.” She began to whispering as the Mr. Hersh came around handing out a worksheet.

“You will have to do this for homework it is 25 points.” Mr. Hersh said. “Don’t turn this in you’ll start out with an F this year.”

Every student in the class groaned, even Cleaopatra. She was perfect in every way possible. I smiled as she stared at the board obviously trying to figure out what we missed. She looked prettier every second.

“This year is going to suck.” She said turning to find me smiling at her. She smiled back.

This was going to be a good year.
