Blake Tyler and Kim Ellison are two lovers from worlds apart. He is a budding writer and, Kim is a working girl from the city streets of Philadelphia. They are a matched made in heaven, but Kim must tell Blake her secrets. The strange hand of fate intervenes, and the supernatural takes over.

Over the course of a single day, the lives of various tenants on a floor of an apartment complex intertwine. A new family, a struggling couple, a man desperate to find his place in the world, and an elderly woman with nothing left to do but reflect on a long life lived all find a thread of connection on a day that none of them will forget. And where one character's story ends, another's story begins.
That night the only family I had died right before my eyes. Alone cold and scared I ran down the street. I didn’t care where I was going I just had to get away from there, away from the ash and fire, away from the life I lost.
