Chapter Four

My heart was scorched in the acids of my stomach, as I more than hurriedly raced for Floreen’s. My daughter? Missing? No. It couldn’t be. I raced up the stairs and found the older lioness in the living room, panicked, and now pacing the floor on her pads as we now both took turns searching damn near the whole perimeter; top to bottom, for my missing cub. My heart further sank and tears almost automatically sprang to my eyes when even after all of our efforts, we still came up empty handed.
