another trump card, 024 thought. He didn’t see Elaine applying Drain to one of her daggers. He allowed Elaine to check on Nako. He waited as Elaine check her pulse. He needed to waste time for Justice to escape with Austus. “Why did you take him?” Elaine spoke up. She turned to look at 024. “Why?”

“He is needed. That’s all I can tell you.” 024 responded.

“Why?” She repeated. “You knocked out two people and took one. Why are you doing this to us?” Elaine asked.

“He’s important to our plan. Until then, he is ours.” 024 answered. Elaine took the dagger furiously. She threw it at him.

Episode Eleven "024"

The dagger flew through the air and graced 024’s shoulder. 024 backed off and grabbed his shoulder in pain. The dagger definitely nicked him. The poison made little contact, but would soon spread all over his body. Knowing that taking any more poison would lead to his death and disappoint Justice. He threw his spear at Elaine before using Shadow Feet to escape his predicament. He escaped with the cover of darkness leaving a wounded Elaine, who was able to dodge the spear, alone to care for Nako. What do I do? Elaine thought. There’s nothing we can do. Everybody’s injured, She thought. Nako was simply unconscious, but nothing told her when she would wake. She decided to venture back while carrying Nako instead of chasing down Austus. She didn’t have the power to. Rit was beaten to unconsciousness at the inn, Uzin is taking care of her, and Nako was the same at Rit. Even she was wounded by 024’s attacks. Nearly all of her mana was gone which would lead to her being in the same state as Nako.

Elaine picked up Nako and pulled her over her shoulder. She fell to the ground with the weight of Nako. Nako wasn’t heavy, but the sudden weight shift nearly crushed Elaine. She picked herself up and started the walk home. A walk of shame. The shame that she wasn’t able to save her crush Austus. A shame that even if she “won” the battle she still lost something important to her.

Justice stood outside the gates of Valindo with the unconscious body of Austus in her grip. She was waiting for 024 to return. She waited for ten minutes. Then twenty minutes. 024 arrived in twenty-two minutes. His movements were restricted by the poison. “What’s wrong?” Justice asked eyeing his shoulder.

“I’m sorry, your majesty. I was hit by a poisoned dagger. ” 024 stated. He grimaced in pain.

“You are dead correct?”

“No, I’m perfect my majesty. I can still perform.”

“You are similar to a wounded house. You know what happens to it correct?”

024 nodded. He hesitated to answer. “It would be put to death, my majesty.”

“Correct,” She stated. She took out her staff. She initiated her third skill. Ice Strike. Five ice crystals about the size of a short school bus formed above her, all aimed at 024. “I can’t use you if you’re about to die. Once you can’t perform, then you are worthless to me.” She told him.

024 accepted his fate. With his last words of “It has been an honor to serve you, my majesty” he was struck through the heart and other vitals with the ice shards. His life was cut short by Justice. His actual lifeless body slowly tore off piece by piece and became dust that flew away in the whispering winds. Justice then walked over to the gates and called out to the guards. She dragged Austus up to the gates. The king of Valindo arrived at the gate in anticipation. Step three was in motion.

Episode Twelve "Future Awaits"

Recap:

024 and Elaine depart ways with Elaine forced to return to town without Austus and 024 went back to Justice to end his term with her.

The king of Valindo appeared and opened the gate. “I see that you completed your mission.” His voice boomed. “Return to the castle for your next instructions.” He ordered. The king had a scruffy beard and a matching mustache. His face showed aging as his looks were slowly falling apart. The wrinkles on his forehead were in triples and his face was showing signs of sagging. He wore a greek gladiator outfit of a tunic that showed off his muscles. He was built with good stature and had a shaved head.

Justice bent her knee in front of the king. “Yes, your majesty.” She responded. She got up and took a bow. She started to walk away.

“Wait.” His voice boomed again. Justice shivered. She tensed up and stood in place but wasn’t facing him. “What happened to your escort?” He asked.

“U-uh…” Her voice trailed off. She couldn’t speak in his presence.

“What?” He questioned.

“He was exterminated f-f-for…” Her voice trailed off again. She cleared her voice and tried again. “He was damaged beyond repair and was deemed for extermination.” She declared. She shot a glance at the king’s eyes. His stare burned holes into her.

“If it was necessary then you’ll be pardoned for its extermination. Otherwise, you will be tried for your crimes.” He threatened. Her body started trembling. She nodded, but even without looking at him she could sense his glare. “I will assign you, two guards, for your next mission. 025! 026!” He shouted.

“Yes, your majesty. We beckon to your call.” 025 said appearing in front of him. Next to him stood 026. The looked exactly similar to 024, but their weapons of choice were different. 024 wielded a metal chain that he moved with magic while 026 carried a large metal pole with spikes attached to the top half.

“As you can see, Justice.” He said with a cold tone. “They may be clones, but they fight based on loyalty. Getting rid of them every time you complete mission breaks down their loyalty to you or the royal family.” He then turned around and walked off. “I recommend you fix your attitude.”

“Of course,” She said without turning around.

025 went over to Austus’ body and grabbed it with ease. “We will escort you back to your room, miss.” He stated. Justice nodded. 026 went ahead of them with Justice in the middle and 025 following right behind her. What now, Justice thought. What can I do?

…

Elaine returned to the city with Nako. She got to the inn and handed Nako off to Uzin. “What happened?” Uzin asked.

"I couldn't save him. He was in my reach...but wasn’t either. I barely got o-out of there alive with Nako.” She blurted out. Uzin rested his hand on her shoulders in an attempt to calm her down. Elaine continued to blurt things out and acted hysterically. Uzin who was the “funny” guy of the group was now the only person of their group who could defend himself. Rit was still bed-ridden. Nako was unconscious and Elaine ended up collapsing from the mental pain she suffered knowing that she was forced to leave Austus. Uzin was also exhausted from the mental pain of not being able to do anything and see his friends destroyed. He looked out of the window and witnessed a terrifying sight. A light pierced the clouds coming from the vampire kingdom. A great light the width of twenty meters.
