The morning light from the sun as it slowly rose felt warm on my face, drying the trails of water as silent tears ran down my face. Absentmindedly, I rested my hands on my bulging stomach, looking out to the fields, watching as the gentle wind caused the stalks of wheat to move like a majestic sea of gold. With a sigh I turned around and walked back into the house.

“Don’t worry little one, we will be just fine. You’re father should be home any day now," I whispered to the life growing inside me. Even as I said it, trying so hard to believe that it was true, I knew in my heart that it wouldn't be true. That he would never be coming back. No matter how much I wish he would, I knew it was impossible.

I remember the day he left... It was just a little over 6 months ago, not two weeks before I found out that I was expecting a baby. He had told me that he had to go out of town for some important meeting for the firm. He said it would only be a few days before he returned. We drove to the airport that night, holding hands in the front seat, feeling like giddy lovers going on their first date. We had no incidents on our way there, arriving 10 minutes before his flight was scheduled to depart.

The ticket receptionist looked on us with a smile like we were newlyweds or something. I stayed with him for a few minutes, silent tears running down my cheeks. I did not want him to go but I knew that he must. If everything went right he may come back with a big promotion, which we could definitely use. There was more vacation time and there was a big bonus that would help a lot with the bills, especially in the winter time.

Flight 186 to Boston is ready for departure. Please get your luggage and head to boarding lane 6, thank you.

We both turned our heads when the receptionist announced that his flight was ready for departure. Well, that was our cue then. Time for him to leave. I remembered how he looked, nervous, happy, and sad all at once. I kissed him and told him I loved him. He smiled and I watched as he strode down the walkway to where they were boarding the plane. He had stepped onto the boarding gate and turned and waved. I waved back then turned around to go to the window and watch the plane take off.

I watched as his flight started down the runway, slowly climbing into the air. I watched as it took off and climbed higher, like a mechanical bird soaring into the night sky. I stood there a good 5 minutes, watching. I turned to leave and there was a sudden rumble, then the sound of shattering glass and screaming. I turned around and looked out the window. Where the plane was just a few minutes ago was now a huge ball of roaring flames. I slammed my hands on the window screaming out in terror, tears streaming down my face.

Some officials came and escorted me to another room, trying to calm me down. They handed me a Styrofoam full of coffee and asked me to calm down. They asked me a bunch of questions, like who I was, did I know anyone on the flight, and a lot of other questions. After a while I calmed down and had gone silent, ignoring everything around me. They offered to give me a ride home and when I said nothing they escorted me home, not wanting me to drive on the roads in my condition.

I shook my head, trying to clear it, not wanting to think about the past. I walked into the kitchen and put a pot of water onto the stove so I could have my daily cup of tea when there was a knock on the door. I looked at the time, the clock showed 6:37pm, who could be coming over this late? I wondered as I answered the door.

I opened the door and my jaw nearly dropped to the ground. There was a drop dead gorgeous guy standing on my porch. He had to be at least 6 feet tall, with dark black hair and these piercing green eyes, shiny like emeralds. He wore a business suit of grey and white material. For some reason he seemed really familiar. It wasn't until he spoke that I knew who it was.

"Kelly? Kelly Justice? Is that you? Is that really you?" He asked me. His voice was heaven, it rivaled that of a siren, it was low and husky, and seductive and I knew who he was. It was my husband.

I nodded my head, "I am she. You look an awful lot like my-" I stopped as the realizations in my mind and heart clicked. "Damien! Oh my god! You're alive!" I yelled as I ran into his arms. He laughed and pulled me close into a hug. We walked into the dining room and sat down, talking. I asked him how he was still here, how he survived the crash, where he has been. He smiled and told me everything I asked and more. It was almost like a dream come true. As we sat there and talked tears silently ran down my cheeks and the life growing inside me kicked at my stomach, as if it was excited to have it's daddy back.
