asked, reclaiming it.
"have you seen that line?" i asked, taking it back and taking another bite.
"besides, i rock so you don't mind."
"anything else?" he asked, looking at his tray.
"can i have a drink of your soda?" i asked, faced scrunched up.
he sighed and gave me the soda.
"whoo!" i said, punching the air.
"now i want something."
"What?"
"a Hug."
i smiled, and gave him a hug.
"so," i said, putting the cap back on. "i saw blake with a broken arm this morning."
landon took the soda, and started to chug it.
"i wonder how that happened."
he kept drinking. i took the soda away from him.
"well?"
"well i was tired of him making you sad, so i went to talk to him and he punched me in the jaw so i broke his arm."
"you broke his arm." i repeated.
"not for me."
"thanks."
"anytime."
"how'd you break it?"
"you really wanna know?"
"not by a long shot." i said, taking another drink.
we sat there being quiet, eating and drinking.
"there's this girl i love, but i don't know what to do." landon said, as we sat with our feet in my pool.
"really? how can i help?"
"how do i tell her?"
"i dunno, just tell her i guess."
"k, can i practice with you?"
"sure."
"i love you."
"good, now you can tell her."
"i just did." he said, reaching over and kissing me.
the kiss was nothing like the ones with blake. landons kiss was soft and sweet, and when our lips conected, sparks flew.
"whoa."
"yeah," he said, pulling away.
"about time!"
we turned to see grandma looking out the kitchen window. we laughed. landon put his arm around me and i rapped my arms around his waist.
"what now?" he asked, looking down at me.
"i love you."
he smiled, and kissed me again.
"this calls for ice cream!"
"grandma!" i said, throwing my head back. landon laughed, and helped me up.
after we had our ice cream he went home.
"hello?"grandma asked, into the phone
"it's for you."
"hello?"
"how dare you try to run away!' the step loser yelled.
i hung up the phone and said, "lost call."
"it's a land line." grandma said.
"maybe there was a storm."
"do they know you came here?"
"no, and i can't go back. i'm unhappy there."
"i won't make you go back, but if they come to get you i can say anything."
"i understand." i said, kissing her cheek.
the next morning when i went down stairs, the step loser was talking to grandma. someone covered my mouth and pulled me into the kitchen. i turned and rapped my arms around landon.
"i won't let them take you."
there wasn't much he could do but it was still nice to hear he'd try. when we went out grandma mom and step loser where outside.
"let's go kelsey this instant!" step loser said.
grandma and landon where inside.
i started to follow them.
"wait, i'm 18 yes!" i said, punching the air.
"ha! suck on that suckers!" i yelled, turning and running to the door.
"you don't own me!" i slamed the door.
i high-fived grandma.
"ice cream all around!"
"they're still out there." landon said.
i grabbed a mega phone off the counter and opened the door.
"step loser and mother, thanks for stopping by, now get your crappy car in gear and get outta here!"
i shut the door and went into the kitchen holing my hand up in a well way.
"still there." grandma said, taking a bite of her ice cream.
"maybe they'll leave, when they figure there's nothing they can do."
2:30 Am
"still there?" i asked, sprawled on the kitchen floor.
landon was sitting on the counter and looked out the window.
"yep."
"well shit!"
"what?" grandma asked coming awake.
"this is stupid, come on grandma, time for bed."
after bed i went back for landon who was on the floor asleep. i grabbed the blanket off the couch and layed with him. i smiled as his arm closed around me.
"are you shitting me!" i yelled, raking my hands through my hair.
"what time is it?" landon asked, looking out at my parents car.
"ten." i said
i followed him to the door. he walked out to the car.
"there not in there."
"what?"
i walked out to the curb.
"maybe they went for a walk."
"is that blood?" i asked, opening my mom's door.
"oh shit, don't freak out we can handle this.
"don't freak out? don't freak out? there's blood on the dash board and my mom's missing!"
"your freaking out," he said, touching my shoulders.
"if i just went home with them this wouldn't of happened."
"wait." he said, touching the blood.
he sniffed his finger.
"ketchup?"
"kelsey, your mom got home alright frank got a raise so they got a new, car and left that one for you." grandma called.
i made a strangling motion with my hands as my eye started to twitch.
"thanks grandma." landon said, grabbing me in a hug.
"i can't believe how gullible i am."
"you thought your mom was in trouble. anyone would act like that."
"even after she picked some guy over me, i still care for her ass."
we went inside, and watched a movie.
the next day the 12th graders where put in the gym. landon read a book holding my hand and i scrolled through facebook and held his.
"this is the last week of school, are we excited?" the class president said.
everyone yelled.
" the king and queen will be walking last, and you guys have to wear your crowns. and then the class valedictorian will go which is of course landon Monroe." she said.
landon looked up as everyone yelled and clapped. i hugged him tightly.
"so now that everything is in order, please go out to the parking lot for the last year, camping trip." she said.
we grabbed our bags and went out to the parking lot.
"hey," landon said.
"what?"
"i love you."
"i love you, landon."
he leaned down and kissed me.
"is it strait?" i asked, grandma.
"let me help." she said.
i bent down and she fixed my crown.
she took my head in her hands. "oh honey, i'm so proud of you."
"thanks grandma." i said, hugging her.
"well don't you look sharp."
"thanks grandma." landon said, hugging her.
"guys," a teacher said.
"hey," blake said.
i slipped my arm through his.
"Kelsey Frost, Blake Jones and Landon Monroe." the principal said.
everyone stood up and yelled. once we got to the end i dropped blakes arm and landon kissed me.
"whooo!" everyone yelled.
"we did it guys!" i yelled.
"whoo!" everyone yelled throwing their caps in the air.
the next morning there was a knock on the door. when i opened it know one was there. i looked around and saw arrows. i followed it to the drive way. in colorful chalk was the words will you marry me? the dot to the question mark was a black ring box. i looked over and landon was standing with his hands in his pockets. he did a well? motion with his hands. i ran to him and he picked me up in a hug.
"is that a yes?"
i kissed him.
"yes."
we kissed.
"yeah?"
"Yeah."
we kissed.
he slipped the ring on my finger.
"oh no i didn't mean to make you cry."
"happy tears!" i said, rapping my arms around him.
he kissed me.
"i love you."
"i love you kelsey."
