In an age full of magic, wizards, witches, and demons there were a hidden city. That city was surrounded by mountains and forests, covered with thick mist, protected by spells making it imposable to locate. Buildings in that city were carved in stone made of heavy, strong and durable materials only powerful beasts are able break. This city had many secret passages and hidden chambers with exotic inscriptions written in them hiding precious materials and equipment. This city is located in one of the most dangerous lands in the phoenix region, this region was known as the phoenix region to follow the name of a powerful and most dangerous flying demon, with the ability to use heat and fire, living in unknown areas in that region.
In that city a young traveler named Raiden has barley reached by pure luck. He was exhausted and tired from fighting his way through demons and bandits. He was wounded and bruised, scratched here and bleeding there. His blood was attracting unwanted attention from vicious creatures, and so he was looking for a place to hide and rest to regain his strength.
Raiden is a brave and strong individual; he would venture though the most dangerous places to get what he wants. He is a kind person as well; he would help a stranger in a heartbeat, although most of them turn out to be bandits but he would never give up helping those who are in need no matter what or who they are.
Raiden knows how dangerous this world is, and his aim is to make the world a better place to live in for the future generations. He suffered enough as is and he doesn’t want any other person to suffer as he did, so he is doing his best to ensure that. In this world only power matters, if you are strong and clever then you can survive otherwise you will be dead living a very short life.
Raiden is adventurous and a knowledge seeker as well; he is used to go to the most dangerous and lethal places any sane person would keep away just to learn knowledge, and sometimes it almost got him killed, yet he always put what he have learned into good use no matter how small or unimportant that knowledge he gained would seem.
The city Raiden reached was in peace; people live there as if vicious demons were not lurking just outside their city walls and gates. The gates, never the less, was not guarded, instead there was an ancient spell keeping all creatures with bad intentions away, so once you pass the gate and nothing happen it means you don’t have any bad intentions and allowed to enter, otherwise the city won’t exist to you, you even won’t be able to tell if anything there ever existed. Raiden went in and notices that there were no guards visible or people nearby, he knew right away that the city must have been protected by a shield spell or something similar that kept the city safe.
Entering the city Raiden noticed that some buildings seem to be very old, almost around 150 years old or even more, yet other buildings were more recent. After walking for a while, people started to show up and an old man noticed Raiden and greeted him “good afternoon young warrior, you must be tired and exhausted. What happened to you?” he said to Raiden examining Raiden’s wounds with his eyes, “good afternoon kind man, I have been attacked by bandits just outside the city” Raiden replied, “That is awful. I am just glade that our home is safe from them. Do you have a place to rest?” the old man asked filled with sympathy, “In a matter of fact, no, I don’t have a place to rest. I lost almost everything I had, I only managed to keep this one book” Raiden explained showing a rather large book he is holding. “Then why don’t you come to my house. I know it’s not much but it’s cozy, I am quit lonely and I would appreciate some company” The old man offered. “Oh! Excuse my manners, my name is Jack.” said Jack quickly with shame drawn in his face. “Don’t worry about it Mr. Jack, I was rude to not mention my name as well, its Raiden, nice to meet you, and thank you for your offer, that would be great help for me to regain my strength” Raiden answered with a smile on his face, “nice to meet you as well Raiden, and please just call me Jack” Jack demanded copping Raiden’s smile, and then they began walking deeper into the city.
While walking Raiden saw that people (humans) walk around freely and carelessly with little to do and some of them would have a demon pet serving them. To Raiden this is almost a normal unpleasant view. It was normal since some humans have the ability to use magic and enchant those creatures to slavery, yet it was unpleasant to Raiden since he always objected to that kind of treatment because demons have thoughts and minds just like humans and they feel as they do as well. Humans had no right to enslave a creature born to be free.
Among the humans Raiden was passing he managed to notice that some are in uniforms, armored and well equipped, he then right away knew that they were the guards of this city. Guards are dedicated humans with strength and endurance by their side, and above all they all were able to use magic and spells to protect their city from any harm.
There are levels and types to magic users, the level of power starts with Wizard as the weakest, sorcerer, Magi, Master, and lastly Sage as the most powerful magic user. Guards mostly are in the level of wizards and rarely sorcerers in this city. Guards in this city were respected by humans, and feared by demons. It is a dangerous yet very rewarding career; it takes skill, discipline, stamina, and the ability to use magic to be one. Unfortunately, most of them are filled with ego and abuse their authority. It was clear to Raiden that the only job these guards were doing was scream at people, torture demons and capturing them.
By Guards actions Raiden was very upset and disappointed, never the less he kept it to himself, after all he has been invited and well treated by a kind citizen of this city and he was not about to cause trouble to Jack. He swallowed his frustration and kept moving forward, and just as they were about to reach their destination he noticed a man almost striped off completely, only an old, bloody, torn pants is covering him, he seemed young and well build yet skinny from hunger. He was wounded and bruised all over his body; some fragments of broken weaponry such as arrows would stick out. That man had the strangest tattoos on the right side of his upper body starting from his right hand continuing to the left side ending on his left foot. Raiden has never seen such tattoos done like that before, these tattoos seemed to be as if they were engraved to his body as if he was born with them rather than have it drawn on him.
The wounded man was guarded by at least 45 guards in sight among them, 5 higher officers are making sure everything went smoothly and their commander which seemed to be leading them and inspecting them from time to time. Those guards were unlike the others, they were heavily equipped and seemed tougher and meaner; closest to that man were 5 guards carrying wipes on their hand slashing it on his back whenever they get the chance and switching places with other guards to do the same once they are tired, forcing him to carry a huge stone which looked similar to the buildings material. That man was able to carry a huge bolder while he was heavily chained and tortured, his chains had weird inscriptions Raiden has never seen before.
To Raiden it seemed that he was working on a new building, and it seemed that he was the only one working on it while everyone else is tormenting him. He was very upset by that seen and was determined to do something about it; he thought that if he can’t save all the creatures here at the very least he could save the most tormented soul.
Chained in PainRaiden was cut from his thoughts when he heard a distant voice calling his name “Raiden, we reached to my house. Feel free to relax in it” Jack said pointing at a worn out old hut, barely standing, small enough to host one or two people at maximum. Raiden however was pleased that such a poor old man would share his only belongings to a complete stranger. Jack went in and grabbed a piece of cloth, soaked it in water, then started cleaning Raiden’s wounds. Later he fixed something to eat for both of them and served it to Raiden. Raiden ate his share and thanked Jack for his care and generosity.
After finishing the meal, Raiden had some sleep then after waking up the two started talking for a while and Raiden decided to ask about the man tortured outside “Why that man just outside the house is being treated the way he is? What did he do?” Raiden asked with wonder drawn in his face, “That man! Please don’t make the mistake of calling him
