up!" Mistykit hurled after her littermate, scampering out of the nursery. She tumbled across the warm Green-Leaf grass, her blue eyes wide with pleasure.

"Hello, Mistykit," The light mew behind Mistykit made her jump and turn. Snowtuft stood in front of her, her thick white fur glowing, her eyes calm, and kind.

"Hi Snowtuft!" Mistykit squeaked, looking up at the medicine cat.

"How are you? Practicing battle moves?" Snowtuft purred, her eyes soft.

"Yes," Mistykit grinned slyly. She had grown to love her mothers sister much. They spent time together, playing, having fun, and occasionally Snowtuft showed her some secret battle moves. She loved Snowtuft as her aunt.

"Good." Snowtuft purred, eyes bright with pleasure as she watched Mistykit leap and grab a butterfly.

Mistykit pinned down the butterfly, let it fly away, and turned to her aunt. "I cant wait until i become a warrior!"

The moon snowly went down. Mistykit sighed, pushing the rest of her half-eaten pike away from her. Bluekit closed her eyes and began to snore. Mistykit yawned, then tucked her paws under her. Another moon had passed, and Mistykit was now two moons. Four more moons, and she would become an apprentice. She couldnt wait! The gray she cat rolled onto her back and closed her eyes.

"Mistykit," Wrentflight nudged her daughter. "Wake up,"

Mistykit blinked open her eyes and yawned. She must have fallen asleep last night, when she had eaten her pike with Bluekit. She yawned again and pushed herself to her paws, her blue eyes drowsy. The young she-kit stood, stretching her small legs. Suddenly her ears pricked, her eyes widened. Paw steps echoed through the camp, and almost every cat in the cleairng turned to stare at the entrance as a light gray she-cat, Amberbright, burst through, her eyes wide.

"ThunderClan are trying to take Sunningrocks!" she gasped.

Chapter 2.

"ThunderClan?" Marshstars voice was sharp as she bounded forward. "Are you sure?"

"They're practically swarming over the rocks!" Amberbright insisted. Marshstar looked thoughtful. Mistykit tipped her head.

"Amberbright, take Moonbeam, Dapplepelt, and Starkpaw, and meet them. I'll lead a second patrol for back up." Marshstar meowed, narrowing her eyes slightly.

"Yes, Marshstar," Amberbright nodded to Moonbeam, Dapplepelt, and Sparkpaw, who followed her out of camp.

"Can i come?" Mistykit asked, padding forward.

"No." Marshstar meowed. "Kits stay in camp." She signaled with her tail to Whiteowl, Fishdapple, and Eagleclaw and pounded out of camp.

"Will everything be okay?" Mistykit asked her mother.

"Yes, dear." Wrenflight soothed, licking Mistykit between the ears. "I promise."

Mistykit sighed. Another moon had passed, but slowly. It was now Leaf-Fall. Mistykit was three moons old now. She licked her lips and rested her head on her paws.

"Hey, Mistykit!" Firekit called to her. Mistykit looked up. "Wanna play Clan?" Firekit asked.

"Sure!" Mistykit meowed. Her sister was already over there, and Mistykit padded over. "Im Fireblaze." Firekit meowed. "Songkit is Songpaw, Bluekit is Bluesnow, and you can be Mistystar, the leader." He nodded to her. "Im the deputy."

Mistykit was happy that her crush had given her the role of Clan leader. She nodded. "Okay, Fireblaze." She purred in amusement. Firekit purred softly and smiled. Mistykit leaped onto the rock that they used to play Clan. "Let all cats old enough to swim gather to hear my words!" She meowed.

Bluekit, Songkit, and Firekit rushed over.

"Songpaw." Mistykit began, "you shall be known as Songheart! StarClan honors your courage and loyalty, and we welcome you as a full warrior of RiverClan!"

Songkit purred and purred.

Mistykit sat in the den. Two moons had passed, and tomorrow she would be six moons. She would be an apprentice. Firepaw, and Songpaw had been made apprentices, with Fishdapple to mentor Firepaw, and Lillypad to mentor Songpaw.

Mistykit wriggled with excitement and fell asleep, dreaming about being an apprentice at last. As her thoughts drifted, she felt calmness spread through her, and fell into contented sleep.

Chapter 3.

"Mistykit, step forward." As Marshstar called her name, Mistykit stepped forward happily, her eyes bright. She trembled with excitement. It was her and Bluekits ceremony!

"Mistykit, from now on you shall be known as Mistypaw." Marshstar meowed, her eyes scanning the Clan to find a mentor. "Amberbright." She meowed at last. "You will mentor Mistypaw."

Mistypaw felt her heart thud in her chest as she stepped forward and touched her nose to Amberbrights, her eyes shining.

"Dont worry," Amberbright whispered. "I'll teach you all i can."

Mistypaw purred deeply and smiled.

"Bluekit," Marshstar beckoned Bluekit forward. Bluekit stepped forward, her eyes wide. "Bluekit, from now on, you shall be known as Bluepaw." Marshstar went on. "Eagleclaw," She meowed. "You will mentor Bluepaw."

"What will we do today?" Mistypaw asked Amberbright.

Amberbright smiled. "Hunting practice." She meowed. Mistypaw purred in excitement as her new mentor led her out of camp.

Mistypaw yawned. It had been a tiring day, but she had caught a fish! She stared proudly at the pile, which held a fat pike. She smiled and looked up. The sun was still up. She hurried to the medicine den.

"Snowtuft?" She called uncertainly. Snowtuft poked her head from the den. "Yes-oh, Mistypaw." She smiled. "How are you? Enjoying training so far?"

"Yes." Mistypaw smiled. "I need some fresh moss from your store for the elders den."

"Comeing right up!" Snowtuft purred and vanished into the den, returning a moment later with moss in her jaws.

"Thank you!" Mistypaw purred, taking the moss and blinking gratefully.

"Your welcome!" Snowtuft replied.

Mistypaw turned and headed toward the elders den. Tinyfoot looked up. "Oh, hello, youngn'." she meowed.

"Hello, Tinyfoot." Mistypaw purred as she began to replace the fresh moss with the old one for the croaky old elder.

Tinyfoot smiled softly as she finished. "Thank you," She rasped, getting into the nest.

"Anytime, Tinyfoot." Mistypaw replied. "Got any ticks? Fleas?"

"I do have a flea on my back," Tinyfoot admitted. "I cant reach it."

"Ill get it." Mistypaw had been working very hard that day. She padded to Tinyfoot and sat down behing her. As she found the flea, she nipped it, and it fell dead to the ground.

"Thank you." Tinyfoot sighed, tucking her nose under her paw.

Mistypaw smiled and crept from the den.

Chapter 4.

Mistypaw woke up, pushed out of the den and looked around. Amberbright was waiting in the middle of camp. "Mistypaw!" She called.

Mistypaw swiveled her head around and padded over. "What are we doing today?" She asked.

"Im going to show you the territory." Amberbright meowed. "Follow."

Mistypaw followed eagerly, her eyes bright and curious.

The sun was lowering by the time Mistypaw and Amberbright returned.

"Mistypaw!" Wrenflight bounded towards her. "You might get to be in your first battle!"

"Really?" Mistypaw meowed excitedly.

Wrenflight purred, nodding, and turned to Amberbright. "Is she ready?"

"Yes." Amberbright broke into a purr. "Shes a quick learner. We practiced battle moves yesterday."

"Alright, come on." Wrenflight turned and pushed into camp. Mistypaw followed, followed quickly by Amberbright.

"...So tonight, we take back Sunningrocks!" Marshstar was yowling. The Clan cheered in approval. "The cats going on my patrol will be: Eagleclaw, Fishdapple, Songpaw, Firepaw..."

Mistypaw leaned forward.

"...Mistypaw and Amberbright..."

Yes! Mistypaw nearly leaped in excitement.

"..Dapplepelt and Wrenflight. The rest, guard the camp!" Marshstar leaped from the Streamstone and padded to the camp entrance, flanked by the others. Mistypaw padded forward, tail up. They padded in silence. When they reached Sunningrocks, Marshstar jumped up, along with the others.

Mistypaw followed too. They lined up, Mistypaw beside Amberbright, as they were faced with a fair amount of ThunderClan warriors.

"Marshstar!" Jaggedstar growled, drawing his lips back in a snarl. "These rocks are ours!"

"Never!" Marshstar retorted, drawing her own lips back to reveal sharp teeth. "RiverClan, attack!"

Mistypaw lunged for a ThunderClan apprentice, drawing her lips back in a fierce snarl as she gave him a bite on the shoulder. He yelped and kicked her away, drawing his lips back.

"Fish-Breath!" He taunted.

"Mouse-heart!" Mistypaw retorted, lunging again. She tripped him with her muzzle while she dug her claws into his flank and raked them across. He squealed in agony as Mistypaw pinned his muzzle to the ground with one paw, the other shredding his flank. "Please, let me go!" The tom apprentice pleaded. Mistypaw released and he fled towards his border. Mistypaw turned and lunged for a ThunderClan warrior.

"You little..!" The warrior turned and growled, but Mistypaw clamped her jaws on his tail. He yelped. then knocked her away with a heavy blow. She landed with a thud on her side as the warrior stood over her, raking her stomach. She hissed in pain.

"Stop it, Snake-Heart!" Mistypaw heard a yowl, and a flash of russet fur smashed into the warrior, knocking him off of her and making the warrior squeal. Firepaw! Mistypaw thought. Firepaw tripped up the warrior and turned to her. "Bite him!" He meowed. Mistypaw lunged, aiming for the warriors ear. She clamped her jaws firmly around it hard. The warrior screeched in pain, trying to get away. Mistypaw released and he fled, tail tucked.

"Thank you." Mistypaw mewed shyly to Firepaw.

"Anytime." Firepaw meowed. Was that love in his eyes? He turned and lunged for another warrior.

Mistypaw leaped
