I chuckle as she yawns in her sleep, opening her mouth she makes a funny face and stretch her front legs.
I am sitting right in front of her on my sofa and she is laying on a cushion placed on floor. Even though I have a book in my hand as I have to study for my test tomorrow but I can’t help looking at her. I study for a minute and stare at her for almost ten minutes before realizing I was studying.
I can’t concentrate because I want to keep looking at her, she’s so cute. And I am in love with her newly.
I make a face and indulge myself in studies again.
And I guess it’s just after five minutes that I hear a ‘meow.’ I hurriedly glance at her shutting up my book, standing up like the studies are over for today. Her eyes are sleepy and her gestures lazy. And my stomach rambles as she see me and move forward towards me, stops near my feet, looking up at me with her brownish black crystal eyes and making the most innocent of faces. I am acting like she is some handsome man.
I laugh at the thought and pick her up in my arms as she meows again stretching her legs and resting in my arms. I can’t stop smiling. She is like a ‘living’ toy.
I am a seventeen year old girl, studying in college, with no more toys in my room, just books and some bags scattered here and there. What is happening to me then? I laugh at me as I am acting like a small kid. I wonder if this happens with everyone. I make a mental note to talk about this with my best friend.
It’s mid afternoon when I feed her with some milk. She drinks it peacefully while I watch her. Then I comb her fur with my fingers and I don’t know why, out of madness, I start talking to her about me. I tell her everything about me and she keeps staring at me attentively as she is understanding every single word. She makes low sounds every now and then as if she is participating in the conversation.
We talk and talk and talk.
I caress her bandage and she closes her eyes in reaction. I chuckle. She is such an actor.
I know the bandage needs to be changed so I go out and tell my father that she is awake now and if he is free he should change her bandage.
‘Bring her here,’ he says.
I go into my room and bring her to our living room. I give the things needed to my dad. I lay her on my lap as my father starts working on her bandage. As she got to knew what we are doing, she makes low, uneasy sounds. I feel sad at the thought that it must be hurting her.
‘Be careful, papa. Don’t hurt her,’ I say as I stroke her ears gently.
My dad smiles.
It takes a couple of minutes and she is all fine. I take her to my room again and play with her. I capture our pictures together. She seems happy and I am much happier.
As evening wear on, I take her up on the roof and she starts running with her weak little legs. I keep seeing her, sometimes she comes to me and stares, meows and sometimes she even licks my feet and I can’t help chuckling.
We spend a small time together on roof then I bring her downstairs as it is time for my favorite show. I switch on the television and start watching it with her beside me.
After a couple of minutes, she jumps onto my lap and lay there easily. I smile as a current of love go through me. I start brushing her fur and like this we watch my favorite television show.
Later that day my mom asks if I am prepared for the test tomorrow and I am caught! I regret telling her about my test.
‘Enough now, it’s just a cat and you have stopped studying. Go to your room and study. Till then I have your cat,’ she scolds me.
‘Mama please, I’ll study when she’ll sleep,’ I squeal.
‘No way, Study now,’
I go into my room giving a sad look to my cat and surprisingly she seems sad too,’
I study quickly and in an hour I am ready to play with her again. I run to my parents’ room to find her out in the corner of the room with a bored look. She leaps towards me and jump in my arms happily as soon as she sees me.
My mom is a little bewildered at giving so less time to studies.
‘I am prepared for the test tomorrow,’ I say and roll mu eyes funnily at her expressions.
Taking her to my room, I read her a story book and my laptop becomes her toy as I turn it on.
After having chicken for dinner she sleeps on now ours’ bed, I too lay beside her wondering how I have fallen in love with her even though I don’t like pets much.
Yesterday, I was coming back from college with my father when I first saw her with some blood on her back. She was crying and she was so small. My heart leaped and I asked my father to stop for her.
He did stop and I gently picked her up in my arms. Wiping out the dirt slowly with my fingers I took her to my dad.
‘Can we take her home?’ I asked.
‘Yes, we can,’ he agreed instantly just as I knew he would.
Just after we reached home, I bathed her. Once she was neat my father bandaged her. Drinking some milk she slept.
We are playing since she woke up yesterday. Thankfully it was Sunday today and I am so happy I brought her home with me.
She is a beautiful loving baby cat and I am in love with her.
She is my first pet ever and I am going to keep her forever with me.
