A Poem

A poem she took, a simple poem,
Words put together, with meaning perhaps.
She left behind her dreams undreamt,
Faith disbelieved, her hopes abandoned,
As she set foot upon the world,
A new world, yet one so familiar.
A poem, a simple poem she took,
Something she would want remembered,
A songbird's cry, a butterfly,
Cicada's chirp, a floating feather.
