Chapter 1: A New Start

"Skyler! Come on! You're going to be late for your first day at a new school!" My mom yelled from downstairs.

 

"Ugh... Mom! Oh my god, I said five more minutes!" I replied with a groan.

 

"You said that 10 minutes ago! Now get your butt up and get ready!" I groaned again and rolled out of the comfort of my bed and onto the carpet of my bedroom. I stood up then made my bed and yawned as I made my way to the bathroom. I took a short six minute shower and brushed my teeth. I walked back into my room in just a towel and made my way to my closet, looking through all my clothes. Just then, the door opened and my twin brother walked into the room.

 

"Yo! Sis, you ready yet?" He said.

 

"Gah! God dammit, Jordan! Get out, perv!" I screamed. He just laughed and held up his hands in defense.

 

"Hey, we took bathes together since we were little babies, remember? Twins? Ring a bell?" He said sarcastically.

 

"Just get out!" He just shrugged and finally shut my door. I sighed and continued looking through my clothes until I found the perfect outfit. I pulled out my band tank with "My Chemical Romance" written on it. I grabbed my skinny jeans that were black and ripped up along with my favorite combat boots. Finally, for the final touch of my wardrobe, I grabbed a long sleeved black and red plaid shirt and tied it around my waist. Okay, now for my face. I walked into my bathroom and brushed my hair. It was a classic emo hair cut you would normally see but it was black and has rainbow highlights. I put on my black beanie which also said, "My Chemical Romance" on the front. I grabbed my leather bracelets and put them on my left wrist.

 

Grabbing my shark tooth necklace, I looked around for a different nose piercing I should wear. Finally, I found a good black ring piercing for my nose and switched out the stud. Done with accessories. I put on my eyeliner and made the cat tail on the end. I then, put on my mascara and looked at the mirror. Perfect... I thought to myself. I walked out of my bathroom, grabbed my backpack, and grabbed my phone and earbuds. As I was walking downstairs, listening to my music, I could smell pancakes, bacon, and scrambled eggs. My favorite. I walked into the kitchen and sat down in a chair, waiting for my food. 

 

"You ready for your first day of school, honey?" My mom said. I couldn't hear her because my music was blasting into my ears. "Skyler!" Still, deaf to the sound of my music, I didn't reply. Suddenly, Jordan walked up next to me and yanked out my earbud from my right ear.

 

"Hey dipshit! Mom's talking to you!" He yelled, right into my ear. 

 

"What the fuck, Jordan?!" 

 

"Well, mom needs to talk to you... Damn..." I looked over to my mom.

 

"Yeah? What is it?" 

 

"Are you ready for your first day of school?"

 

"Yeah, I guess..." I said with a mouthful of bacon. 

 

"Gross weirdo..." Jordan said before put some scrambled eggs in his mouth. I shot him a death glare and kicked him in the shin under the table. He winced and glared back at me. I just gave him an innocent look and he rolled his eyes.

 

"Well, it's time to go guys!" She said, taking our plates. I grabbed all the bacon and stuffed it in my mouth.

 

"Bye mom! See ya after school!" But instead I sounded like 'Bye moth! See ha afher school!'. I ran outside and jumped on my motorcycle. What? An emo girl can't own a motorcycle? I put my helmet over my head as my brother got in his red Mazda 6 Saloon. 

 

"Want to race, Big Sis?" He asked me, rolling down his car window. I put up an "Okay" sign and was both pulled out of the driveway. 

 

"3..." He started to count. "2... 1... Go!" He yelled as he stepped on the petal. I followed after him and was behind just a little bit off an inch. I revved my up my engine and sped up to be right next to him. As I did, I looked to the right to see him smirking. I just smiled under my helmet and saluted him before revving my engine even more and taking off way before him. I arrived in the school parking lot where all the other students were socializing with all their friends. I stopped in the middle with a screech, accidentally catching the attention of the others around me.

 

My brother sped into the parking lot and parking right next to me, also causing a screech. I stepped off my motorcycle and put down the kickstand. I still had my helmet on as I knocked on the driver's window. Jordan stepped out of the car and some girls gawked at him as he stepped out. My brother was pretty hot I have to admit. He has the same black hair and electric blue eyes as me but no one has seen me yet. The girls aruond us started squealing in delight as they saw him teasing them by running his fingers through his hair. I just sighed and took off my helmet letting my black and rainbow hair fall. Now it was the guys turn to gawk. I looked around nervously at all the guys staring at me with their mouths open. I saw a couple girls too gawking but not in a pervy way. Well, except for the whores, standing next to all the football players. 

 

They were wearing mini-skirts which could've been underwear and shirts that could've belonged to a four year old. I rolled my eyes at them because they were staring at me in disgust. 

 

"Ready, Big Sis?" Jordan asked, resting his arm on my shoulder. He was 5' 11' while I was just 5' 7'. Yet, I was the one who was 14 seconds older than him. 

 

"Ready, Lil Bro." I gave a slight smile before putting my earbud in my right ear  and leaving the left one open.

 

"Let's go!" I put my helmet on my motocycle and walked to the entrance of the school with him while people who weren't staring earlier, were stopping their conversations to stare at us. It made me uncomfortable so I stood behind him hiding my face under my hair. Jordan just laughed. "Shy there, Skyler?" 

 

"Oh shut up..." I replied. We walked into the front office together to get our locker numbers, schedules and books. I sighed and looked through random pictures on my phone as we waited. I found a selfie of me and Jordan when we were 14 at Disney Land. Ah the good times... I tapped his shoulder to get his attention and showed him the picture. He laughed at how we were so little and comparing it to us now. It was only 3 years ago. We're 17 now. 

 

"Skyler and Jordan Bancroft! You're materials are here!" Said the secretary. She was actually pretty nice. She was beautiful, too. He has light brown hair tied up in a pony tail and pretty green eyes. She was kind of the only person besides Jordan in the entire school I like. 

 

"Thanks." Jordan said, taking his stuff.

 

"Thank you, Miss East." I said looking at her name tag.

 

"No problem! Enjoy your first day here!" Jordan and I thanked her and walked out of the office wit hour hands full of stuff and walking towards our lockers. Good for us, our lockers were right next to each other. Thank the lord... We put in our combinations and organized our lockers. That's when all the student's started walking into the school and not hanging out in the parking lot. The 15 minute bell rang as I finished putting my last textbook in my locker. Suddenly, a tall male with dark brown hair and hazel colored eyes walked to the locker to the left of mine. He started turning the lock on the locker but he wasn't looking at it. He was looking at me... He kept on staring as I read through my schedule.

 

It made me uncomfortable and I finally sighed. I turned towards him with a smile but a slightly annoyed look on my face. "May I help you?" I asked.

 

"Well, you can help me if you continue to ignore me like I'm not there so I can keep staring." He grinned innocently. I just raised an eyebrow and Jordan came up behind me. 

 

"Who's this?" He asked me.

 

"Just some desperate guy..." I answered with a sigh.

 

"Hey man. Leave my sister alo-"

 

"Jordan, it's fine. I'm okay, remember?" 

 

"Whatever..." 

 

"Let's just find a private," I started putting emphasis on the word private and looking at the guy to my left. "Spot to go over our schedule." 

 

"Good idea, Skyler."

 

"Skyler?" The brown haired male said. "That's a hot name." He winked. I just rolled my eyes. He was pretty hot though... Wait what?! No. I'm not thinking that...

 

"Let's go, Jordan..." I said glaring at the brown haired male. Jordan and I shut our lockers and walked away together.

 

"By the way, my name's Aaron! Don't you forget it!" He yelled after us.

 

"Don't worry! I will forget it!" I yelled back. Jordan laughed at what I said. I jsut laughed along as we walked outside. We found a nice tree under the shade and sat down. 

 

"Ugh... You probably didn't notice but a whole bunch of girls were asking me for my phone number as we were walking here." Jordan said exhausted.

 

"Yeah... Guess not because I was listening to my music." I stuck out my tongue. He laughed. 

 

"Whatever... Let's just see what classes we have together." 

 

"Alright!" I replied. We went over our schedules and found out we only have 4 classes together. We have first, third, sixth, and eighth period together. They were English, Science, Math, Woodworking, and Art together. 

 

"Wow that was fast!" Jordan exclaimed. 

 

"Mhm." The five minute bell rang indicating it was time to start first period. We stood up and Jordan asked if he could listen to music with me. I just shrugged and gave him my other earbud and we walked to class together. First period was English and we were about the fifth ones in the room which was good because we could sit next to each other. We sat in the back row in the corner of the room. Finally, about two minutes later, the rest pf the students started piling into the classroom. I fixed my beanie and adjusted my nose piercing as people stared at me, making me uncomfortable again. 

 

Jordan put his hand on my shoulder, making my attention turn to him. He took out the earbuds and turned off my music. "Hey, ignore them. It's fine okay? I'm hear for you..." He told me.

 

"Whew... Okay... Thanks Lil Bro." I thanked. 

 

"No problem." We got out our English textbooks when the bell rang. All the students were in a seat now and surprise surprise! The desperate Aaron from this earlier was sitting right in front of me. I rolled my eyes and ignored him. The teacher walked in and her name was Mrs. Halifax. 

 

"Good morning class! How was your weekend?" She asked placing her items down on her desk. A few mumbled "Yes" and "No". "Well, it's Monday. I didn't expect much enthusiasm this morning." She sighed. "Anyways, we have two new students with us today! May they please come up to the front of the room?" Jordan and I glanced at each other and stood up. I walked before him to the front of the class. "From your records are you two twins?" She asked.

 

"Um... Yes, we are." Jordan asked.

 

"Which is the older one?"

 

"I am, Mrs. Halifax. By 14 seconds." I said.
