pop another fry in my mouth. "Not the way I'm sure they make it sound. I just moved her out of the way she was the one clinging to my hand."

Heath stares at me, amused. "Who is this girl?"

Scoffing, I roll my eyes. "No one important."

He nods, believing my words, letting it go.

Feeling a tap on my arm, I turn to face Max, who eagerly awaits my news. "So, did I get in?"

"Get in where?" Heath asked, curiously looking over at Max and me.

Max rubs his neck, nervous. I knew he wanted to play football, but at the same time, he felt it was a selfish decision and feared our brother's reaction.

"Football," I answer for him.

Heath's eyes widen in surprise, not expecting that as my answer to his question. "Football?" He then points at Max. "You?" Max's face turns pink, embarrassed at our reactions to his news. "Do you think I can't do it?" He asked face downcast.

"No!" Heath shouts, feeling bad for making him feel like we didn't believe in him. While I gently whack Max over the head, forcing him to look at me in surprise, rubbing the back of it.

I send him an exasperated look. "We talked about you doing that didn't we."

"Sorry," he mumbles.

"Look I got you a chance okay."

Confusion crosses his face, not understanding what I meant. "What do you mean?"

"I mean, I talked to the coach and got you a tryout after school, but you aren't on the team yet. You need to prove yourself first."

Pure joy fills his face and he jumps on me, giving me a hug. "Thank you! Thank you!"

Amused, I slap him back in return before grasping his shoulders, leaning him away from me to get a good look at him. "You're welcome. I got your foot in the doorway, the rest is up to you, got it."

"I promise I won't disappoint you."

Sighing, I ruffle his hair. "It's not about disappointing me. It's about proving to yourself that you can do it. You need to learn you can do anything you set your mind to. Believe in yourself more." I jester to Heath and Axel, who stood by Stella, no doubt getting lectured at. "I and your brothers will always be there to support you like we always have."

Smiling, he pushes my hand away. "I'll try, but you're coming to tryouts with me right?" He asked, looking a little frightened at the thought of going against guys bigger than he.

Laughing, I slap his back in comfort. "Yes, I'll be there, now finish your lunch. You'll need it."
