I stared out of the window as we passed by trees and buildings. The further we drove away the more upset I got at the fact that I was literally being dragged away from my current life. Today was suppose to be special not horrible. 

I looked over at my mother who had her eyes focused on the road. Unlike me she seemd so calm about the current situation and had only said like seven words to me since we got in the truck. I was a nervous wreck and I could tell that she didn't want to upset me anymore than I already was.

Oh how rude of me...let me introduce myself before we go any further. My name is Kobi Lex and I am of course female. I just turned 15 today and I should be happy but today is in fact, THE. WORST. DAY. OF. MY. LIFE. Trust me I'm not being overdramatic.

It all started with my great, great, great grandmother on her 15th birthday when she got her powers. She was a telepath(reading minds, moving objects with your mind...the basics) like my father and I...

I knew that this day would come I was just trying not  face my dreaded reality so soon. I'm leaving behind friends and a great school all because I had to get these stupid powers. If you're wondering where my mother is taking me, I'm on my way to The Enchanted Academy for mythical and "special" creatures. There they help teenagers from the ages 15-18 harness, control, and master their powers.

My mom and I lived in the small town of Ruberstein and it had just been the two of us since dad passed away when I was 10. She owned a small bakery but everyone always came. She never wanted to let me go but if I didn't then my powers could be deadly and cause a lot of damage.

At my new "school"(that's hidden away in the forest by the way) I'll be studying and training with fellow telepaths, vampires, werewolves, faries, elves, people with super strength, the ability to fly and more.

When we pulled up to the Academy I couldn't believe my eyes. It was a huge ivory building covered in old vines and two huge doors for the entrance. My mom gave me a look that said, I'm sorry.

After I got my suitcase we both stood in front of the huge doors. It took everything in my power to not start crying at that instant. I pushed the doors open and walked in.

Let the journey begin...

 If my mother hadn't reminded me where I was I would've stayed frozen at the entrance. I looked around and reality hit me. This would be my new home for the next 10 months. I couldn't handle all of this.

"Hey mom." I called trying to hide my shaky voice in the process. She looked concerned.

"Yes honey?" She asked rubbing my head. 

I took a deep breath. "I'm gonna go to the restroom right quick. I'll be right back." I told her and she nodded understandingly.

She got in the sign-up line and I walked away looking for a nearby restroom. I was speed walking not watching where I was going. I felt like I was gonna throw up my lunch. 

I turned a corner quickly and bumped into a wall or so I thought...

"Hey watch where you're going!" I heard a deep voice say and I looked up to see a guy hovering over me. He looked pissed off. 

"Uh..." I trailed off unsure of what to do as I laid on the ground.

He rolled his eyes and offered me his hand. I hesitantly took it and he pulled me up. I dusted myself off and took a good look at him. He was about 7 inches taller than me and had olive-colored skin, messy jet black hair, and bright green eyes. As I scaned him from head to toe I almost forgot about my need to puke.

"BARF!" The next thing I knew my lunch splattered all over him. I just couldn't control it and after the fact I was completely mortified.

I quickly ran away not caring where I was going. I didn't even say sorry or look back.

Finally I came across the woman's restroom and let me tell ya. It was gorgeous for a public restroom. The floors were polished, there were at least 8 sinks on each side, and about 20 stalls with a lot of space.

After cleaning myself up, I dashed into the closest stall and put my back against the wall. I slid down until I was on the floor and just let it all out. This was just too much for me to handle. I sobbed for what felt like 30 minutes straight until I heard footsteps outside the stall.

"Hello? Is anybody in here?" I heard a voice ask. I tried the best I could to wipe away my tears before answering.

"Y-yeah." I replied with a failed attmept at a non-shaky voice.

"Are you okay?" The person was now right in fornt of the stall I was in and they sounded concerned.

"You sound like you've been crying." They said and by now I could obviously tell that it was a girl. 

I stood up on my short wobbly legs and slowly opened the stall. 

The girl was about really tall with tan skin and dark blue eyes. She had chesnut brown hair cut into a pixie cut. 

"Hi. I'm Samantha. But my friends call me Sam." She put on a faint smile and stuck her hand out for me to shake it. I hesitantly shook it and introduced myself.

"I'm Kobi." I said pursing my lips to the side.

"So do you want to tell me why you were crying or?... She trailed off. I didn't really feel like letting all of my emotions out. I wasn;t really good at it and I especially not with a complete stranger.

"First day jitters." I said trying to sound convincing. Her smile brightened.

"Oh really?" She asked retorically.

She started, "I get those all the time. I cried for three hours straight on my first day of first grade." She let out a small genuine laugh that could brighten anyone's mood.

"Yep. Tell me about it." I smiled feeling a little better.

"Come on let's go. Check in's almost over." She grabbed my hand and led me out.

As we headed back to the front I examined the schol. The halls were huge with high walls and beautiful decorations everywhere. I saw a lot of trophy and award cases and they all were from tournaments of some kind.

After about 5 minutes we were back at the entrance hall. I scanned the room and saw my mother waiting bythe door.

"I see my mom. I'm gonna go tell her where I've been so she won't freak." I told Sam and she just nodded.

"Hey mom." I spoke up startling her in the process. Before I could do anything else I was engulfed in a huge hug.

"I was worried sick. Where were you?" She asked sounding really upset. Not angry, just upset.

"It took a long time finding a restroom." I told half of the truth. Luckily she took it and no more questions were asked.

She had already checked me in and gave me my room key and schedule. I would have two roomates and weod be in room 835B on the 2nd floor. She stayed for about 15 more minutes and then we said our goodbyes. She had to get back to work Monday and I started my new school.

Of course I'd miss my old routines and my friends but I'd adjust...hopefully.

While I was away I had missed the annual welcome speech said by the headmaster but mom told me everything that I needed to know.

Just as I was about to go find my room I bumped into someone...again.

Luckily this time I didn't fall and looked up to see someone that I hoped I wouldn't see again so soon.

"Well if it isn't barf girl." The guy from earlier said crossing his arms with a glare. I gulped. I shouldn't be scared but he had this mysterious vibe coming from him that kept my mouth shut at one glance.

"Are you mute or something?" He asked raising a brow. I furrowd my eyebrows and stood up straight. Nobody insults me.

"No. As a matter of fact I'm not." I said with my normal voice raised a little. I thought I saw a look of shock on his face for a secong but it then went away.

"Wow. She speaks." He said in an overdramatic and surprised tone. I couldn't believe this guy.

"Look. I'm really sorry about earlier, I was just really nervous." I began.

"-but you don't have to be a dick about it." I said getting a little angry.

"Hmm. What a great apology." He said in the most sarcastic voice I have ever heard. i didn't need this.

"Look. I don't need this and I have to go find my room so Hasta la vista, baby." I saluted as I turned and walked away.

It didn't take me long to find my room.

As I was about to knock I stopped myself. 'Wait what am I doing? This is my room.' I opened the door and was surprised to see that my roomates weren't here yet. I unpacked and got myself situated. I didn't even realize how tired I was until I plopped down on my bed and laid there. I had chosen the bed closet to the window, even though it wasn't much of a view in the forest and all.

I had taken a 10 minute nap and by the time I woke up I heard laughing on the other side of the room. I fluttered my eyes open and saw two girls sitting on one of the beds talking about something and interrupting my nap.

"Oh you're awake!" 'That voice sounds familiar'  I thought and sat up to see Sam, the girl from earlier with another girl.

"Yeah. Unfortuantely." I yawned. I didn't mean to be rude but I'm pretty grumpy when I'm sleepy.

"Sorry. Did we wake you up?" They looked guilty as they should.

I gave a look that said, No s*** sherlock and watson.

"Yeah kind of." I said sheepishly walking over to them.

"Hi I'm Emmie. Nice to meet you." Emmie introduced herself with a smile and wave.

I just threw my head up slightly acknowledging her presense.
