"I'm an idiot, dad. I hurt her. Both of them." I said, trying to right myself.
"It's okay. I knew that there would be a complication. There's never a happily ever after Aaron. No spells, none of that magic stuff that people accuse elves of doing." Agamemnon said.
"But why do I always hurt her? I lost control last Summer, broke a few of her bones. It's not fair to her, or to anyone." I stammered, covering my face.
"A-Aaron?" It was Chalice. I felt her small hand on my shoulder. "Malie said Delilah's gonna be alright, that she won't die. But..." Chalice trailed off.
I looked up at Chalice expectantly.
"Come on, I'm sure you don't want everyone hearing this." Chalice dragged me into the room she was staying in. She hadn't roomed with Shane yet.
"Sit." Chalice commanded. I sat.
"There's a chance Delilah may never be able to have children again, maybe even never walk again. That pole went through her spine, impaling her...Her ovaries. I just thought you should know. Not to make you guilty, though." Chalice said.
I gulped, feeling faint. I may have just caused Delilah to become crippled and barren. And I'd have to deal with her being miserable, knowing I'm the one who caused it. Delilah wanted more children, I knew it from her thoughts, and I remember how tortured Delilah was when she broke her foot.
"Aaron? Calm down. There's a chance she can heal completely. it's 50/50 chance." Chalice said, but I found myself dropping from the window, changing into a wolf, and running deep into the woods, before collapsing. I threw up my dinner, before staggering away, and passing out, stark naked in the woods.
Chapter 5
--DELILAH'S POV--
"Delilah, can you hear me?" A warped female voice asked me. I fought to open my eyes. In front of me, stood a familiar figure with coffee and cream colored hair, and olive green eyes. Her mouth and nose were covered with one of those doctor's masks. Her eyes brightened when I lifted my head up. I tried to sit up, but all I could feel was a slight tingling in my legs. I gasped, trying to move my feet, my legs, anything. Nothing happened. I broke into a sob. I could never walk again.
"Oh, honey. It's okay. It's only temporary. I knew you'd try to move, so I had to strap you in completely." Malie said softly.
I stopped sobbing. I was only strapped in? I flung the blanket off of me. I didn't know if I should smile or gasp. I was stark naked, a massive scar on my stomach. From my crotch down, I was strapped down. I looked around for Aaron. He was nowhere to be found.
"We can't find him Delilah. I looked for Aaron before you woke up, but we had some news that upset him too much." Malie lowered her voice. "There is a chance you may never be able to have children again. We also thought you crippled, but you're fine."
I almost cried. A little red toddler stumbled into the room, her flame red hair in pigtails. Calico was about three.
"MAMA! I waited fow you! Dada gowne." She said, trying to climb onto my bed.
"Coco, let your mommy rest?" Malie said to Calico.
Calico smiled, handing me something that was in her hand. It was a small kitten. With a laugh I realized, it was a calico cat, with short fur and blue eyes. The cat mewed, and I let the kitten curl up on my chest.
"Chalice took Coco to the P-E-T-S-T-O-R-E and they brought her home. Calico wanted to name her kitty, but I told her you should name her." Malie said.
"Abby-cat. That's what we'll call her." I said. The cat looked up at me, mewed, and rested it's little head under my chin.
"Abby-cat! Abby-cat!" Calico reached for the kitten. I handed her the kitty, and Calico ran off, the kitty in her hands.
"S-so will I be able to have more kids?" I asked. I wanted a family of my own, to cuddle with, Aaron, maybe Kai, Coco, and a few more kids. I'd be happy.
"We think so, but you should be careful. If you EVER start to hurt, come to me. Take this." Malie fed me a applesauce mixture. "This will keep you healthy. Go find Aaron."
I rushed into some little lace dress that was black around my bra and panties, but was thin lace around my stomach, my scar visible. The dress ended just under my butt, and stooped low around the breasts, and my back.
I was allowed up, and I staggered to the door. I was tackled by a werewolf pack.
"DELILAH!!" They all said. My stomach ached.
"MALIE IT'S HURTING!" I screamed to her.
The pack let go, and the pain went away.
"Where is Kai?" I asked. "He was hurt-"
"He's fine. He went to find Aaron." Shane said, ruffling my hair.
"Oh. I want ice cream." I said, staggering downstairs.
"Here, sit down. I'll get it. Vanilla?" Eli said.
I nodded, letting the pack guide me to the couch. I laid down on a heating pad, a bowl of ice cream in my hand. I watched Netflix, a few anime shows.
"Delilah?" Aaron's voice made my heart skip a beat. I looked up to see Aaron, in a fresh pair of clothes. Er, shorts. His tan chest was bare, and he only wore beige shorts.
"Hi." I said, shoving some more ice cream in my mouth.
"Oh my god, I'm so sorry. I'm an idiot, I didn't mean to hurt you. Or Kai. I'm completely sorry." Aaron dropped to his knees, hugging me. I put the ice cream bowl on the table, sitting up.
"Are you..." He patted my legs. I kicked the blankets off of me. I wiggled my toes.
"Better, see?" I said.
Aaron sat down, pulling me into his lap. He planted kisses on my forehead.
"Wonderful. I go out to find the guy that attacked me, and I am thanked by my mate and him kissing on the couch." Kai's voice was irritated.
"Kai!" I said, tackling him. Literally. I had lunged off of Aaron's lap, my head and arms connecting with Kai's torso. He fell down, and I fell on top of him.
"Oh my god, I thought I'd never see you again. Happy like this." He muttered, picking me up, and laying my head on his lap, and my feet on Aaron's lap. Aaron rubbed my feet, and I had to grit my teeth to block a moan. My feet were my weak spots; Aaron knew this. He grinned at me, and I kicked his leg.
"Next time you kick him, aim for his crotch." Kai said, not even looking at me.
Aaron growled.
"I apologized already!" Aaron growled.
"It wasn't good enough, you stupid mutt." Kai snapped.
"Call me that one more time, I dare you." Aaron said, getting up.
"Stupid, mutt." Kai said slowly, a challenging look on his face.
"That's it, this time, I'm really going to kill you!" Aaron growled, turning into a wolf. Kai turned into a mountain lion. Ah, Sysan mates, they get along well around the female...Note the sarcasm. Kai hissed, jumping off of the couch onto Aaron. They scrambled to be on top for a while, before taking it to the back fighting ground we had, which was not clearly visible. A knock on the door made me jump, and I answered the door. It was a boy about my age. He has almond shaped hazel eyes that sparkled like moss flaked with gold. His silky, straight, golden blonde hair ends at his neck. He is very tall and has a wide-chested build. His skin is tan. He has a high forehead and a strong chin. His eyes lingered at the lowcut dress I wore, that showed a lot of cleavage.
"Um...I was looking for Malie..." He said, before looking at my face. "DELILAH?"
It took me a second to realize who he was. It was the hot country boy at Bianca High. I never did learn his name.
"Oh, hi, um...You know, we never really introduced ourselves." I said. "You know me because of one reason or another, but I don't know you."
He shifted.
"Aren't you cold in that? It's awfully early for someone to be prancing around in something like...That." He looked at my stomach.
"Is that a scar?" He asked.
"Long story. Involved being impaled by a pole. The usual. What brings you to see Malie...." I trailed off at his name.
"Mason." He said.
He caught me off gaurd by tracing the scar that was as long as a 2 liter soda bottle. I jumped back, chills going down my spine.
"A pole did that to you?" Mason asked.
I nodded.
"Went through my back. You know miracle I can still walk." I said.
"You asked what brought me here?" Mason stepped closer to me, lowering his voice. "I think this is the state pack, am I right?"
I nodded, awestruck.
"Are you-" He asked me.
"No. Are you?" I answered.
He nodded.
"Why are you coming to talk to the beta?" I asked.
He looked confused.
"Last time I checked, Malie and Agamemnon are the alphas." Mason said.
"No, there's a new alpha pair." I insisted.
"Who?" He asked.
"Aaron and I." I said.
"Aaron's your mate?" He asked shocked. "I-I thought-"
"What? Don't tell me you thought you imprinted on me. You'd be the third to say that." I snapped by accident.
Hurt flashed across Mason's face, but then it was gone.
"Third? I'd be the third?" Mason asked.
I showed him my wrists. He sucked in a breath.
"Both?" He asked, tracing my tattoos.
I nodded.
"What exactly ARE you?" He asked. "I think I've heard of this before. Come on. If you're alpha female, I should be discussing this with you."
I lead Mason by the hand to Aaron/My office room. I sat at the chair, my feet on the table.
"This is so awkward." Mason muttered.
"Go on." I said, gesturing for him to get on with it.
"I think I'm a wolf." Mason said.
"Keep talking." I said.
"Some big husky-type dog attacked me a few months ago, and I've been blacking out during certain days, waking up miles away from home. I came here because I thought this pack'd be able to help me, but I'm not even sure I AM a wolf." Mason explained.
As if I knew, the words blurted from my mouth.
"No one's actually seen you black out?" I asked.
"Nope." He answered.
"Convenient," I said. "Considering that usually people notice if someone goes missing."
"What do you mean?" Mason asked.
"Most humans either are so stupid that they see something else happening, instead of you turning into a wolf, they saw you walking out the door with your keys. Or, they'll have their memory taken." I said.
The door slammed open, and Aaron walked in, grumbling about Kai. He stopped, seeing Mason, and gave me a questioning look.
"Just help me." I said, exasperated.
